Thread: Best order to watch Star Wars

Hi, I've never seen any of the Star Wars films before as i never used to be into sci-fi and thought that it would bore me, but yesterday i decided to download all of the films. I now cant decide which way I should watch them for the maximum entertainment value as a first time watcher, So i thought id put it to a vote and see if I can get a few oppinions while im at it. So please vote here so I can get the most out of my first ever Star Wars marathon...

I think you should try to watch from 1 to 6.

yeh, thats what i was gna do to start off with but someone said to me that the special effects drop in quality will be pretty jarring if i do it that way..

What does it come first for you? A good story or special effects...? If you prefer special effects maybe you should follow the release order.

Not sure really? I suppose the story comes first. So watching it 1,2,3,4,5,6 is the best way for the story, definately yeh..

I am watching this franchise for the first time on the recommendation of my partner and he said to watch from 4-6 first and then go to the others. He said that was how they were originally released and the first three that were released are actually the better movies of the franchise. Thus when I start them tonight I will be watching from 4-6 then going to 1-3.

The best way to understand the storyline.

imho the best order is 4,5,6,4,5,6,4,5,6,4,5,6... :) just forget the prequel trilogy, it isn't really worth watching.
