Thread: The Wire

This show is so incredible its hard to believe. I wish that someone had told me about it earlier.

Literally everything is brilliantly done.

Acting, Casting, the way they portray streetlife and the drug trade in Baltimore... and just so many more things.



It surprises me because not many of my friends have watched it, even though it tops lots of top ten tv show lists, and its probably aimed at a 17 to 30 male demographic (which is where my friends sit).

Anyone else watched/loved this show?

I'm a huge fan of the Wire. I don't know anyone who has watched the show and doesn't love it. It's just a crime that so few people seem have actually seen it. But I do my part by recommending it to people every chance I get.

The Wire is a masterpiece, everyone should watch it.

I agree never heard of somebody who has watched it not liking it.

Except maybe my wife but she has rubbish taste - just in Tv series anyway

I never heard of it but I'll give it a shot, theres not many great series nowadays.

Just signed up here and the first thread I see is on The Wire; I can tell this is my kind of site :D

If you like The Wire, I definitely recommend checking out David Simon's other shows: Homicide, The Corner and Generation Kill.

Generation kill is a bit more acquired taste but class stuff none the less will check out homicide

i finished the first season but have yet to start the second... are all the seasons equally good? first season seems hard to beat ;)

Opinions vary; most people see seasons 1, 3 and 4 as the best, but I have a soft spot for season 2.

I'd say most people would agree that season 5 is pretty weak compared to the rest. The main story is a bit stupid and there's one moment that really jumps the shark. It says a lot for the quality of the show that at its weakest it still manages to be better than 99% of the stuff on TV though.
