Thread: Can I cancel my cable yet?

So , I was thinking today. I download all my favorite TV series shows and movies online. With so many good trackers around no days, is it worth dropping my digital cable and hd dvr in favor of local cable only and downloading, streaming everything.
I think I would be fine with it but I'm not sure if the whole family would be the same. They all have their own computers.

I've been wanting to cancel cable for awhile now and while I do get most of my tv shows and movies etc off the web they still get me on watching local sports. In fact all I do with cable is watch baseball, hockey or basketball as football would be freely broadcast on local channels I could get with the antenna.

If I wasn't a sports fan I would definitely imagine that it's a possibility especially with netflix being an option.

I haven't had cable (or any form of TV programming) for the past 4 years and not one ounce do I miss it. All of your great shows are uploaded on trackers so like you said I still get that world. I also hook my computer directly to my TV so my comp acts as dvd/blu-ray player.

One of the big things I look back on now is how much money did I pay for advertising/commercials? Each hour long show comes with 15min of commercials and each 30min show comes with 5-10min of ads. I added it all up a couple months and then stopped because I didn't like the figures lol.

Not to mention I have a ton of time to get other things done now that I don't watch the tube. Like chilling on here with you cool people

I have been out of cable and sat TV for 4 years now and loving the absence of the monthly bill! We have a computer hooked up to each TV with Windows Media Center and the family got around to using it... it's just great!
