    Default Goriest movie ever?

Hi everyone! I wanted to see what others thought the goriest movie ever made was. My vote is for Braindead (Uncut Edition) by Peter Jackson. Allegedly, the movie crew used over 600 gallons of fake blood in the shooting. I saw it and thought it was disgusting and overly gory. Please post your thoughts!

I know Sam Raimi quite well and I've watched a few of his movies, but not that one in particular. Thanks for the suggestion!

VRB do you really enjoy watching gory movies? I don't get it, whats so good about them, they aren't scary, funny, actionious, adventurous, nor anything except for discusting. What do you enjoy about them? im interested in knowing.

Also to remain on topic, the gory movies that i see are the SAW series. Not that gory well actually a fair bit, though i only watch it because i think the story is just exceptionally fantastic.

Good point, Majid, plain gore has nothing in store for me, but gore linked to plot is what I enjoy. Decryptified, I like smart horror movies that combine gore with comedy/fear. For example, if you ever see Braindead, you'll notice that it uses such a ridiculously abundant amount of blood that, at some parts of the movie, it's hilarious to see characters wading in 4 feet of blood and then get attacked by blood-sucking zombies. I know it sounds farfetched and odd, but some friends of mine have the same sort of taste. And yes, the Saw movies are terrific!

The August Underground and August Mordum movies are often thought of as the the sickest movies ever made (They are quite disturbing to watch, so a warning). You can't go wrong with Cannibal Holocaust of course.

Wow, I thought I was the only one crazy enough to watch Cannibal Holocaust. You're right, that movie was especially disturbing and gory. I'll check out the August Underground and August Mordum movies, thanks!

The goriest movie I remember seeing was 'Hostel' by Eli Roth (director of 'Cabin Fever' another horror flick). The torture scenes were surreal and the torturers were all famous horror filmmakers which was an awesome nod. The main torture scene was the worst. I still get shivers thinking about it, the actor who was tortured was unreal. I actually thought he was getting tortured. He was frothing at the mouth and going nuts. Made everyone squirm. Oh god and the eyeball scene. ARGH!!!

Oh and most japense horror flicks are just plain messed up when it comes to gore. 'Audition' comes to mind.

Cannibal Holocaust wasn't really that gory, the only reason it was banned is because they killed a real turtle (or was is a tortoise?) That said, it's a great flick, I loved Riz Ortolini's soundtrack, I had it in high rotation for a while, the guitar at the start really had me hooked.

Tetsuo: Iron Man is pretty full on, I'm a big horror movie fan and I saw a bit of it a long time ago and it's been on my rewatch list for a long time. I also found Ravenous pretty gory.

If you like gratuitous gore, ala Braindead, then check out Tokyo Gore Police. Seriously over the top. The same people who made that also made Machine Girl and Vampire Girl vs Frankenstein Girl which are also supposed to be good.

Lastly, I might as well mention Necromantic and Necromantic 2. Recommended to me by a mate, not necessarily gory either, but definitely wrong.

Personally I'm not a huge gore fan (Hostel, SAW etc), I prefer zombie flicks or just good old fashioned horror :)

Yup, Tetsuo was quite the movie as well. And the Necromantic films are definitely WRONG hehe. If you are going disturbring rather than gory, you cannot go wrong with SALO. But that is a movie that cannot be unwatched.

You are right about Cannibal Holocaust Smithsonian, it is not exactly that gory. It got banned in many countries due to the animal cruelty (they killed a tortoise, muskrat, pig, snake) however the animals were going to be killed by the locals anyhow for food, so the director asked if their actors could kill it, and the locals could use it as they were going to.
The director of Cannibal Holocaust actually got arrested and accused of making a snuff film.

I think I've found a kin in you CthuluLives (Tekeli-li!)

SALO is another movie on my "to watch" list. My guess is that you would be familiar with Jodorowsky then? El Topo and Holy Mountain while not gory are awesome. Weird and mind bending, but awesome. For some reason I put them up there with SALO for their epic strangeness.
