    Default Reality "Love" Shows

    Shows like The Bachelor, etc.

How can some people seriously think these are real? Half the women at my work seem to be clueless that it's not. I want to shake them and get them into the 21st century...

Women want to be fooled into thinking that their dreams come true (Most average women that is). Some are out there who hate that bullshit just as much as you and me but they are not the majority. If they were then those shows would have very very low ratings. These shows "Sell" the idea that you can magically make some rich hot guy fall in love with you even though you are nothing but a lying, backstabbing, whore, happily ever after, the end.

Eh, that's true. That's why Romance novels sell so well. Although, shows like "The Bachelor" aren't really based on that theme. Basically, there is one dude, or one women, and a whole bunch of women or men vying to win them and "fall in love", over like 6 weeks or something.

A show like that is obviously largely scripted -- like if someone goes into a room and starts an argument, the words arent scripted, but they are told to go and start an argument.

I mean, with these shows, you can predict what will happen.

The thing is that people watch these shows for years, and still believe that they are real, i.e. that the "love" they are seeing..... on a TV show.... after 2 weeks, is real. Then when they "break up" after the show, people are like "OMG, they were so in love!!!", and I get to listen to people talk about it non-stop.

It just makes me wonder how smart people in general really are....

I agree Mtguy, those shows are all ridiculous, I don't watch any of them, but they must be popular because they are on all the time.

They are not LOL. How can you have a reality show about 'finding true love' and then have it come back next season with the SAME GUY/GIRL, I mean maybe once, but twice or more?? Seriously people still like 'For the Love of Ray J' its been like 4 years since I first heard of that. The majority of Americans are idiots.

"Reality" shows aren't really real because the participants are basically told what to do, and their situation and surroundings are manipulated. The only thing 'real' you really get is their opinion, and even that, if it's only approved by the people running the show.

I don't even have a TV in my room anymore, I just watch things I want to watch online.
