Default Darth Vader evil or tragedy

I wanted to ask your opinions on Darth Vader. Do you think he is real evil like Lex Luther or
his actions were more a response to all his confusion and pain that he was going through? Some of the jedi did not trust him, and by not telling him of the situation, increase his suspicions against them.

I think he was a good guy but he got really confused and didn't even care anymore, he just got so much power.

I think its a tragedy. He rage against the Jedi caused him to evil but at the end of Return Of The Jedi he saw that he was just a tool and when he died we saw that he was sad with is ways.

To be honest. I lost some of my respect for him when the new movies came out. He was portrait as THE worst emokid in the entire galaxy.

With that out of the way. I think he is consumed by power. As I understand, the dark side holds some kind of lust in it self, so when you use it you want more. I imagine he can't help himself, like a junkie on drugs if you will.

I basically agreed that it was the power that did him in he just got consumed to the point of not caring who he had to steam roll as long as it meant more power

only the shadow knows the evil in the heart of men

    Nice topic for change :)
imho, the life and end of darth vader sums the universal law "With more power comes more responsibilities" He wasnt ready to handle that power, he was responsible for his actions and he had to face consequences of his actions.
The climax of 3rd movie changed a bad guy's death to Tragedy. Nicely executed scenes there. let me find that star-wars pack on some tracker :D

so darth vader we agree is mostly just a tragedy, but then isn't all the villains the same? even heath ledger says that he was treated so bad when he was a kid and he not being able to see nothing but pain, wrongness, and "evil" treatment came to be like that.

I'm not sure about lex luther on smallville but i'm guessing it has some story.

my question is then, is it them also doing bad things on top of the tragedy or all a result of just how we see the world as being mean to us?

is there real evil as portrayed in the movies or tragedy as star wars?

because sometimes i've seen this in real life, people consciously doing things that are wrong,
like a big sister i once met who read a harrypotter book and then told the end to her little sister to purposely screw it for her.

thanks danny it is a change of topic still within the movies... yes we always see the exact same topics on all forums

shadowbuild: shouldn't location be beautiful city and not vice versa?

acutally he was somehow responsible but if you remember the movie also the black jedi, for not trusting him and leaving him to the side when anakin was the chosen one. also for keeping him in the dark, the jedi counsel was not acting to their own motto of clarity and trust and giving that he entered at an age to late they should have kept many eyes on him not just the two of his master

and if he entered so old he should have been overseeing more by his master's masters

His mom was raped (allegedly) and murdered and there was nothing he could do about it with all of his jedi powers. There is no such thing as revenge to a Jedi, that is where his problem was. There is no balance in the Jedi life you are either Good of Evil, no wonder he went psycho he just wanted to be neutral.
