Thread: Movies you thought would suck, but ended up being really good?

Got to go with Tropic Thunder thought it would be a bit OTT but it was a great film

Unthinkable ... the begining was not so good ... but later ...

I would have to go with Percy Jackson and the Olympian lightning thief was expecting a stupid movie about Zeus and the likes actually sort of enjoy the movie its witty humor is refreshing to say the least good storyline also all around a good movie

District 9. I saw it at the box office on a random day, and I thought it was going to suck, which it kinda did the first 1/3 of the movie. It started off real slow but it got much better towards the end. I was satisfied overall.

^^ agree District 9 was pretty good but I almost fell asleep during the first half, another one is Kick-Ass thought it was going to be a stupid kids movie but it turned out pretty good I've watched it several times.

Toy Story 3. Usually each sequel in a franchise is worse than the last, so having heard nothing about this movie beforehand I thought it wasn't going to be very good. However, Pixar pulled through with a great movie. It was funny, entertaining, and very nearly made me cry at the end. Highly recommended.

Recently watched State of Play and Up in the Air. I thought they would be boring movies but they were very enjoyable. The storyline for State of Play was amazing.

I remember a movie called Half Baked,it looked a b-grade movie but turned out to be really funny

Kick Ass definitely. I thought I was going to hate it because of Nicholas Cage, but this actually turned out to be one of his better roles.
