I can't stress enough how good cinematography is not only about genres or actors, it is so much about filmmakers and directors. A good start in not getting bored of what you see or not seeing random quality movies is to start caring about the director of the film.
So, please, please start doing yourself a treat and look at the "Directors" field on imdb, it will be a huge step in the way you relate to movies. If you like a movie from some director, it is a great chance to like his other movies too, and also to like similar directors.
Some good names to start from are (depending on your personal taste):
Cristopher Nolan (Inception, Dark Knight, The Prestige, Memento)
James Cameron (The Terminator 1&2, Titanic, Avatar)
Quentin Tarantino (Pulp Fiction, Inglourious Basterds, Reservoir Dogs)
David Fincher (Seven, Fight Club, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button)
Francis Ford Coppola (The Godfather, Apocalypse Now, The Conversation).
After these ones, you will probably dive more comfortably into the superb works of Stanley Kubrick, Andrei Tarkovsky or Ingmar Bergman.
