    Default Best option for Avatar

Alright, I have a dilemma. I have been dying to watch Avatar for a while now and finally got my chance. The problem is, I will be going with a friend of mine and she doesn't really like 3D style movies (you know, the glasses and all). I know there are three different versions of Avatar in theaters (regular, 3D and IMAX 3D). I really really really want to watch the IMAX 3D version but I am not sure if I should go ahead with it. So my question is this - which version did you think is best and why?

I have seen it in Digital 3D, and Sony 4K 3D. And WOW! It is an amazing film. I had never seen a movie in 3D before and didnt think that it was going to be a good experience, but boy was I wrong. The movie is extremely well made. I wanted to go see it in IMAX 3D also, but theatre by me wasnt playing it. If you can convince your friend to go see it in 3D, do it, she may even like it. And if she really really doesnt want to. Find time to go by yourself and see it in 3D.

If you are going to watch it in 3D, you have to go with IMAX 3D.. Regular 3D is not much different than the regular screen (and you still have to deal with the annoying glasses).

That is true, but you still need to wear those glasses for IMAX 3D as well, or so I heard.

True, what I meant is that IMAX 3D experience is usually worth wearing the glasses, unlike regular 3D.

If you see it in IMAX 3D, you gotta look straight at the screen and not move your head if you don't want to miss anything. If you tilt your head at all, the image goes blurry.

I like sitting dead center in an IMAX theater for best viewing experience. It blows if you sit over to the side since the view obviously suck and the sound would be louder at whatever side you're on. It completely messes with the surround. People seem to think it's best to sit way up at the top, but no, try it 6 or 7 rows from the top and you'll feel/see/hear a major difference.

Anyways, back to which is better. I watched it in both 3D and IMAX 3D. The two doesn't compare; you're completely missing out if you're watching it in plain 3D. It's also true that regular 3D is really similar to regular screen. Most films make it so the 3D stands out at the beginning of the show, then begins to lower its effect throughout the rest of the movie. It's still worth the 2 or 3 dollars more though. Although, since you've stated that your friend is not into the entire glass thing, just take her to the normal screening.

Again... missing out. Go watch it again in IMAX 3D with your buddies after you've seen it with her. I bought my GF with me and she loved it in the IMAX 3D showing.

IMAX 3D is simply way better than normal 3D, but I tend to get headaches from the 3D so if you're also prone to that kind of thing, there's really only one choice

IMAX is better. Bigger screen, greater aspect ratio, the frames on the film are twice as big as in normal 3D.
