This has gotten a lot of press from the tech media types. I am really looking forward to the HBO show. Anyone know where I can download the ebook?
I prefer reading on paper so I would say the library, but you might be able to find it on Demonoid or Bibliotik, or audio book on an audio tracker like what.cd but it is way too long to be listened to in my opinion
I think it's time to bump this thread, as lots has happened in the meanwhile - including the show being greenlit by HBO!
Here's a rough description of what the book series, A Song of Ice and Fire, is about (copied from WiC):
The first season will start shooting soon, with the series set to premiere sometime in 2011. HBO released a teaser trailer not long ago:A Song of Ice and Fire is an ongoing fantasy series by American author George R. R. Martin. The books follow several powerful families as they struggle to gain control of the iron throne, all while an evil, supernatural force gathers on the outskirts of the kingdom. The thing that makes these novels unique among fantasy is their gritty realism. Heroes can fall, villains can triumph, those you though were good can turn out to be evil, those you thought evil can turn out to be good. And while there are magical and fantastical elements present in the series, they are rare and regarded as fairy tales by most characters.

Most of the casting is done, with a few important roles (Tywin, Payne at least) yet to be filled, and you can view the full list here, among the names that might standout are Sean Bean, Lena Headey and Jason Momoa.
IMHO they've been spot on with almost every role, but especially with Peter Dinklage as Tyrion and Aidan Gillen as Littlefinger, and it seems most of the cast are as psyched about the show as us fanbois. :001_smile:
The rest of the crew, with writers, producers etc. from other hit shows like The Sopranos, Rome, The Wire, looks great as well.
It's shaping up to be a great TV show.![]()
