Update: Seen it and loved it.
I think it was what a lot of the true trekies were hoping for. It was darker and more gritty then previous takes. Great direction and the cinematography was quite stunning. I believed in the characters and thought they did a good job. And it was good to see the original Spock. The movie to me was perfectly logical.

It's really, really good. Stays true to the Star Trek themes but brought bang up-to-date.
Saw it when it came out and I was stunned. I had never gotten into the series an didn't think I would be a fan of the movie. But after the movie ended the wow factor had gotten to me.
