I snuck into the movie because I had an hour to kill before district 9. When 9:00 came, my girl asked me if I still wanted to see district 9, I turn to her and with the most earnest seriousness said "I'm too invested in this movie now".

A DAMN good movie; awards should be given out to the guy who played Landa because of how many languages he spoke. Pitt was too good as a bad ass American Yankee, and so hilarious when he spoke Italian.

What did you guys think and why?

I think you probably happier with the time-killing one than with the one you were supposed to watch first ahah. Great movie, and I totally agree on the Pitt thing. And Tarantino had to win more than he did with this movie!

The acting and everything in the movie was amazing. I think my favorite part was the Bear Jew and when he was swinging the bat inside of the tunnel thing.

I loved this movie the first time I watched it. I don't think it's Tarantino's greatest work, but it sure is high up on the list. My favorite scene was the opening one with the milk farmer and the "Jew Hunter." Tarantino just has a way with dialogue that enriches all of his films. And I especially appreciate the fact that Tarantino takes his time to develop scenes, characters, and story. None of this blockbuster-Hollywood-fast-editted-cookie-cutter-crap!!

One thing before I close, Christoph Waltz gave a fantastic performance as the "Jew-Hunter." He was certainly worthy of the Oscar he won for the role.

I've never seen this movie, but, it's worth noting (for the title's sake) that he purposefully misspelled both words in the title, to differentiate from the original, I believe. So, the Tarantino film is spelled "Inglourious Basterds".
...with warm summer eyes... that flickered like fireflies... and she stared at the world...

And these nights I get high just from breathin'... when I lie here with you, I'm sure that I'm real, like that firework over the freeway...

That was also done because the leader of the Basterds (Bradd Pitt's character) is barely literate.
You should see this movie for sure, it's great. Much better than the "original", which it's only very slightly based on.

Waltz was sublime. He managed to be the most vile, cruel, and vicious villain while still maintaing his charisma and likeability. He made the movie, IMO.
