I am looking to purchase a Panasonic TX-P42G10B plasma television as it has an SD card input which is supposed to play SDTV videos in MPEG-2 standard and HDTV videos in AVCHD format according to the sales literature.

I have converted two Xvid films into the above formats and tried them on an SD card in a local retail outlet. They do not play.

I am only going to purchase this television if it will play films direct from an SD card.

Can anyone please give me any information here which may point me in the right direction as I am at present watching television on a 12" portable.
