Thread: Opinion on the New star trek movie

Great film, but I think the old trekkie fans don't really like it.

I'm going to see it next week. It looks fantastic though.

I never liked the star trek

So, I went to see star trek on the back of the great reviews, even though its not really my sort of thing, and I've got to say I was not hugely impressed.
I used to love star trek when I was younger (the one with patrick stewart), but I kinda got bored. So this film did feel faintly nostalgic for me. However I just felt it was a bit too 'hollywood' if you understand what I mean. Just a bit too smooth, and slick, and predictable. I never really cared about the characters, or what happened to them. Simon Pegg was good, but I think I would love anything he did, and even then it was nowhere near as good as his older stuff (shaun of the dead etc.).

Overall, quite good fun, but it didnt leave a huge mark on me.
