Thread: Cancelled before their time

I just wanted to brain storm some good shows that got canned too early. Ill start Smith, Windfall, dirty Sexy Money, Sarah Conner Chronicles.

I was quite sad when they cancelled Better Off Ted and Pushing Daisies...

ABC cancels shows way too much but i never watched bot. Is that related to the new movie coming out titled ted?

Firefly, Dollhouse, Pushing Daisies, Sarah Connor Chronicles, 4400, Arrested Development, Clone High, Invader Zim, Reaper

There's a lot of shows in those lists that weren't cancelled too early.

If a show gets 2 or 3 seasons before a cancellation, that's not too early... It could be from mismanagement, being before their time, in the wrong time slot etc... but they're not cancelled too early.

Shows like Dollhouse/Sarah Connor Chronicles, 4400 (there are others in the lists that I don't know) got 2+ seasons. That's more than enough time to proove themselves.

Firefly on the other hand was mismanaged and from memory, didn't even get a full first season... hence a show that was cancelled too early....

But if a show doesn't get enough ratings in a couple of years...

Firefly was cancelled too early but I still think they managed to end the story in a good way and I remember the story made sense. Also, the movie Serenity was great. There are lots of series that start out good and then get diluted over time because they want to milk out as much money from them as possible (I'm looking at you, Heroes!), and I'm glad Firefly didn't turn out like one of those.

While I somewhat agree with you, Pushing Daisies was Emmy nominated and had decent ratings, but was killed 2 seasons in. Dollhouse was just getting into the the revealing part of the big story arc. Sarah Connor was a big hit but put in a bad timeslot, 4400 had a great audience for cable, but was just expensive to produce. If you have not watched Arrested Development, you better hop onto Netflix. Clone High caused a big stink in India that led to it getting killed, Invader Zim should have been on adult swim to begin with.

Honestly, I think that bad reality TV and the actual dumbing down of America is to blame for good shows with quality writing get offed. Seriously, what season is Jersey Shore on now?
