Default Mobile Number Portability Now In India

The much awaited MNP service launched on 25.11.2010 in Rohtak, Haryana. The detailed program for the entire country will be announced separately. Now you can change from your current mobile service Provider to another mobile service Provider and keep your cell phone number unchanged.

    Activation

Contact Customer Service Center of your chosen new service provider and apply in the prescribed application form. It will take 48-96 hrs to port you number to new mobile service Provider.

    Cost

TRAI has put a ceiling of Rs. 19/- on porting charges which the new service provider may collect from the subscriber. (But which is nil in BSNL at present))

    What You Get

You can enjoy a better service or tariff plan without losing your current mobile number.

    What You Lose

    • Your old SIM card
    • All the products and services you currently activated
    • Unused talk-time, voicemail messages, validity etc will be lost.
Note: There is a 3 month locking period after once you have ported. After those 3 months are over you may request to be ported again.

What you say? Do you change your mobile service Provider?

The scheme is good one by the Govt of India. But I would not go for this scheme as I already have a Double Sim Mobile. So for those who have a single simcard cell facility the scheme is a good one. Also there would be a tough competition among Mobile operators to attract the customers towards them which is good for customers.I hope this plan of TRAI becomes successfull
