I tried to do it to my first gen iphone the other day but I failed miserably. Has anyone succeed in such a feat?

Is Android actually better than the iPhone OS? I've been waiting a while for the iPhone to come to Verizon, but maybe I should just get a Droid.
Being better is pretty subjective. I personally like the Android OS over iOS because of how customizable it is. You're also not tied to a single form factor with a wide variety of phones to choose from. I don't ever see myself going back to an iPhone...but I am very tempted to try out Windows Phone 7 next month.
Yeah, it looks like it has a lot of potential. I'm running Windows Mobile 6.1 on my current phone.
when running android on your iPhone did you run into any major bugs?
I planned on installing android on my iPhone back when it was still in the alpha stages but just ended up forgetting about it.
Is it quite stable now?

It's quite stable. Due to the proprietary nature of the hardware, there are some things that won't be working well for a while, if at all; hopefully, these things will prove to be unimportant enough. The newer iDevices do show some promise in this regard, as they use somewhat more supported hardware components. Now the mail problem lies in getting access to iPhone 4s and iPads to test on.
(Of course, I can't really talk about the project from a neutral point of view...)
