The next generation of Windows Mobile was announced yesterday and it is being called Windows Phone 7 Series. Looks like a 100% overhaul from the current state of Windows Mobile and it doesn't resemble it at all.

Check it out at www dot windowsphone7series dot com

Let me know what you think.. I'm really interested in the Xbox and Zune intergration!

Saw the release on Engadet - and LOVED IT - but I want the dust to settle down. And see a working model - not some prototype in action to decide if I'm going to pick one up "Holiday season" 2010.

I would personally rather get the HTC desire. Even tho its pretty much a upgraded nexus one.

I am glad to see Microsoft back in the game. I saw the presentation Steve Ballmer and Joe Belfiore gave and I was really impressed by the interface and speed. Plus its got XBL games that let you get achievements?! FTW!! I don't know how many times I've played games on my friends' iPhones and wished I could be getting achievements for it. A Match Made in Halo had a decent review of it with screenshots, video and links to lots of other tech blog posts about it.

What sux is that my contract is up and I am itching to get a new phone and the holidays are sooo far away. :-\ I really like it but I am torn between waiting for this or getting an Android 2.0 phone now.

Ive watched all the videos on this bad boy and WOW. this OS looks incredible. I was a big fan of the Zune interface, and this has built upon it. It will be interesting to see how they handle notifications and such. But from a visual aspect, its amazing. Only time will tell if they have everything to back it up.

This looks amazing, I'm glad to see Microsoft is going to be left in the dust with the mobile OS system.

What's significant is that they've got a ton of partnerships lined up and a clearly defined strategy. In comparison, Apple only has 1 device on 1 carrier (at least in the US). Google is in a much better position - Android 2.0 looks pretty sweet, they've partnerships across all network operators and enough hardware vendors to at least keep their foothold in the market. That said, I honestly think they're trying to do too much at the same time. Google has said there will be a convergence between the handheld and laptop devices (I agree, but I don't think it's going to be anytime soon). Unless they change their strategy, their upcoming Chrome OS is eventually going to overlap their Android market. I'm as big a fan of competition and innovation as anyone, but Google needs to clarify what segments their products are marketed towards, else they'll end up competing w/ themselves. M$ on the other hand has an arguably solid PC OS and what looks to be a solid handheld OS. It will be really interesting to see is if they will modify the Phone 7 OS for use on tablets or netbooks. Fun times ahead folks!

If Microsoft can pull this off, they will give Apple a run for their money.
The only problem I see is that Apple already have a strong posistion in the mobile market place.
There are still plenty of people who don't know about Google Android and this is the road I am going down rather than Apple for the time being.

Lately Microsoft really came around with their Windows 7 and Windows 7 Mobile.
    Good for them.
