so is it the best phone ever on the N series
Cnet seems to think and it got 9.1 Review

if not which phone on the N series is the best

No need to talk much, The best of the best from this list is Nokia N900... What a Mobile! Nokia Rocks, all the time...

N900 FTW... even thought I do own a 5800 XpressMusic -_-

I would say E51 but there was not a choice of that one so 900 would be the best among those ones but just cannot skip 97 that one is also very pretty.

I'll go one step further and say it's not only the best phone on the list....but on the market as well.

The N900 is an awesome internet device. I use it as my everyday phone and its amazing. With mobile firefox, adblock+ and grease monkey its just like browsing on my home computer. I love being able to download movies on the go and having them ready to watch when I get home.

houston agree with you, plus the Nokia N900 has physical full QWERTY, 3.5 "screen and a Linux-based operating system Called Maemo, N97 did not seem a good phone in its price range, double the price not believe it justify having the same performance with 5800, the difference being physical QWERTY, 3.5 "screen, and the 5MP camera

though it is loaded with all the bells n whistles but still it doesn't attract me :P.....coz it just look bulky to me.......may be 2 year or in 3 year we could find this thing as lighter and smaller as nokia's low range mobiles are......

It is easy Nokia N900 is the king.

But if you like a symbian platform n97 is a good phone too.
