Well I'm sure those who are planning on upgrading to these phones are aware its a smartphone. Its not like their paying an extra 30 a day you know? Anyway got the droid as well And I'm loving it so far.

I bought the Hero on sprint when it came out and thankfully the droid came out within the sprint 30 day return. I got the phone at bestbuy cause they do auto rebates so I walked in and just switched out phones and plans. The hero/eris is a great phone but everything on thew dropid is so much more intergrated. The camera on the eris is useless w/o the flash and the video capture on the droid is amazing. The biggest thing I thin k is the screens resolution. Droid
Droid definitely.. You shouldn't worry about the phone's price when it comes to smartphones because on average you would be paying 60-70 bucks a month for 2 years which totals to around 1500.. and when you look at it that way, an extra hundred or so doesn't seem that much anymore..
Yeah I have had my droid for a while and I absolutely love it. Thanks guys for your advice. Also what is everybody thinking about the rumored Google phone or Nexus One?
i personally use the HTC Mytouch 3G from Tmobile and i love it , especially since i rooted it :) i can install any app i want , not like those iphones i keep hearing about, lol anyways if you have more questions about the Android modding let me know i can point you to a cellphone modding forum :)
My reccomendation is the droid. I have not used it although I know cnet favors it and to me I use cnets advice a lot! I also use an htc and although it is nice I find it very buggy. Granted its a completely different phone but still. Plus I think the droid looks cooler :D
In battle between these 2, the motorola is clear winner, but if your not in hurry i would w8 for more info about google's new phone nexus one, or what's called.
I'd go with the Droid. The cost of the phone itself is only a small part of what you're paying. The thing you really need to worry about is the cost of the plan. Over the course of your 2-year contract, you will probably pay thousands of dollars in monthly service fees, whereas the Droid itself costs $200 with a contract.
