Yeah I'm with Android, I have a Sony Ericsson Xperia X10. Good phone, needs that update sooner rather than later tho.

I was going to get a Desire but the camera is rubbish and the screen is really hard to read in sunlight, and the music playback is average. So I went for the Xperia X10. Very happy with it.

Droid here - I can check on my seedbox, ditch the $70 I was paying a month for an air card (wireless tether now!), etc.!

I love google and have adamantly used their services for over 10 years now. I love to see their handset market evolve. I would love to say that I have an Android phone and that I love it, but unfortunately, they haven't made enough solid business decisions yet to force me to jump on the bandwagon.

Seriously, these phones are out of date quicker than last year's ebonics. I scoff when i hear someone talk negatively about Apple's deployment cycle. Android phones are pretty much obsolete once you buy them - at least Apple has continued to support its phone a few generations beyond when the OS was first written for it.

Don't get me wrong, I love google's innovations, but I am not upgrading until they learn a few lessons about not leaving customers out in the cold. This new concept that cell phones should cost $500 and be replaced every 3-6 months doesn't sit so well with me.

Check out Amazon Wireless - I got my Droid for $19.99...now it's listed at 1 cent.

I agree with you though...the total cost of ownership for most modern phones is pretty stupid. If you upgrade with Apple/ATT every year and buy most standard accessories, the annual TCO is something like $3000.

The margins that carriers throw on telephony usage totally justify just giving the phones out for free. Hopefully one day they do that with higher end smartphones and not just the POS 5 year old Nokia's.
