I'm not sure if this has been posted anywhere, but recently I started to mod my phones etc.

I recently turned 18 and was forced to get my own contract/plan with tmobile, so I started of with the g1, and when I got it I was researching online and found out about the moding. It's pretty cool, I pretty much reformatted my g1, and put on a different ROM (pretty much an OS for phones). I put on the Jesusfreak ROM which made it so my g1 was more like a HTC magic, with a few added perks of course. Such as my g1 now had an on screen touch keyboard, which they usually don't unless you mod it, and also I could change the theme, more apps, sd2app, multi touch screen for browsing.

Then I got really into it, when I got my my touch, I decided to put on the ROM of the HTC hero, which has a fucking sweet interface might I add, It didn't work as well though because of the lack of memory in the my touch compared to the Hero. So I decided to overclock my ram, along with running all my apps through my 16 gb sd card, which worked perfectly.

Decided to switch within my 2 week grace period to the blackberry curve 8900 and honestly I don't remember why I did that, but I like this phone too, although there's no need to mod it.

So I was just wondering has anyone else had any experience doing this stuff?

I have rooted a couple samsung moments to froyo and finally to ubuntdroid, as well as a samsung intercept to the same rom. I just recently as of yesterday rooted my first droid 2 to liberty, with an overclock to 18.403 MFLOPS in 4.53 seconds on the linpack. Which is amazing from 13.82 MFLOPS in 6.07 seconds stock lol. Rooted the droid, applied bootstrap recovery, wipe clean/data restore applied liberty rom and applied theme. All sucessfull, don't understand how people brick their phones, if you thoroughly read the content there is no reason for this. I think people are too much in a rush, and want results.....whoops

Jailbreaking an iOS device is easier than installing a custom ROM for Android IMO. However, when customizing an Android device by using a custom ROM, you get a lot more control and customization capabilities as opposed to only being able to change a few settings and install themes by jailbreaking iOS

I've rooted and installed custom ROMs on my Samsung Galaxy S2 and my old HTC Desire (also did a custom bootloader on that one). It's pretty straightforward as long as you can follow instructions carefully and don't get too panicked if something goes wrong. I'd have to agree with the Chief that the level of customisation available once you're rooted on Android is awesome and if you pick up a custom ROM like CyanogenMOD the level of tweaking that you can do absolutely skyrockets.
I'm fairly new to the TI community but a seasoned pro with android so if anyone on here wants a helping hand with their phones (and just some tips and advice) let me know and I'll be more than happy to help.
