UPDATE: It's said to be released within the next few hours. Jailbreak and Unlock. So keep up to date. I will post, when it's released.

Nice, You can really tell the difference when the phone is not jail broken, im missing my own ring tones, and apps, hopefully they will release soon.

you dont need the windows version of the jailbreak in order to upgrade to 3.0 jailbroken.
just look for a Custom IPSW that has been pre-jailbroken and just Shift + Left Click on restore and choose the custom IPSW.
Yes I can confirm that what supertorrz suggested is working fine with 2g iphone.

Finally the DevTeam released the new QuickPWN aka 'redsn0w' You can read everything about it on their blog.
Windows Release here and Mac OSX Release here.
WARNING: This is only for jailbreaking and not for Unlock. The Unlock software is known as 'Ultrasn0w' and will follow soon.
And now here a quick description how to update and jailbreak your iPhone.
1. Download redsn0w from one of the links above.
2. If you haven't done it yet update your iPhone via iTunes.
3. Look for your iPhone IPSW here (If you have Vista):
c:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software
Updates
4. Open redsn0w and drag and drop the IPSW to redsn0w.
5. Follow the Instructions.
6. Finish, you can now use OS 3.0 with Jailbreak on your iPhone.
According to several people who already tried it, no data is lost after the update. I will let you know, when I'm finished with my Jailbreak.
