I'm trying to figure how to keep my battery in its best condition to last as long as possible...lition ion that is

so far this is what im pretty sure on

-keep it as cool as possible, heat kills batteries

-if storing, keep it at about 40% charge rate and keep it in a refrigerator

-DO NOT let the battery get fully discharged

-an exception to the above is once every 30 days to reset the "gauge"

what i don't know is how to charge the battery. should i just charge it overnight? should i let the battery wear down to about 25% and then charge it? 50%?

I think in my reading I've seen people say both, and don't know what do to do lol

as far as i know, just weat it till a minimum of 15-20% and charge it back to 100% if you're going to use it again soon.
If it's to store it, you named it already, just charge till 40% of wear it until it gets to 40%.
Looking for SCT and Blackcats.. anyone?

Lithium Ion batteries don't have "memory" so you don't need to wait until they are low to charge. You can charge it every night whether it needs it or not and you wont be hurting it.

I thought they worked, in uh, "cycles" as in you can charge it say, one thousand times (random number) and if you charge it from 95% to 100% or 0% to 100% the're still a "cycle"

Nope, cycles are just a metric that you can use to estimate battery wear, by no means it it precise though. Also most devices don't count a charge as a "cycle" unless they are below a certain threshold (like 80%). Don't start thinking that your battery only has a fixed number of cycles in its life, since its much more complex then that. The best way to care for you lithium ion battery is to just not think about it and charge it every night whether you used the phone or not.

Just because you don't have to worry about the batteries does not mean you should not worry about the AC adapter (charger unit). Be careful so that it does not overheat, and make sure to unplug it regularly when not in use.
