Default Blackberry(RIM) is dead or dying.. what do you think?

I've been looking at the latest financials for RIM and its not looking good. Their stocks have been steadily declining for a while now. I had a blackberry storm years ago and it was a nice reliable phone but its more geared towards business than anything. I personally like the android OS myself I currently have a droid RAZR and a droid X2 both great phones except for the occasional random restart. Do you think RIM can survive with android, apple, and windows 7 phones or are they doomed to fail?

i dont think so.. BB users are really NERD and Awkward to talk to. They dont even listen to you, They wont even appreciate your Cell phone.

The first ever BB i like it Bold 9900 its a pure Class. But the only problem with BB is their Development is really slow. They still make SLOW Devices.

To be honest I have a iPhone and old android phone for personal use and use a BB for work and i can say while the iPhone is the best in my opinion i do still like the Blackberry's. I don't know what it is about them but there is just something that makes me not want to get rid of it.

With regards to them dying i think that depends. A lot of younger people still use them as it's a cheap way for them to talk to loads of people with the BBM, i think the cheapest here in England is £5 a month with Orange. So as long as they stay cheap and popular with the younger generations i think they will continue, just not as big as they are now.

The only thing that separated RIM from the rest of the phone world was their support for enterprise class email and other software. This has steadily declined with the introduction of the Iphone and Android OS's. Unless RIM delves into the world of touchscreen smartphones or get's away from their webkit based crappy browser, than they will be swallowed by the competition.

A touchscreen smartphone will help BB get back on top, until than they will be in the background.

Here in South Africa BB is the most used smartphone brand, by far.
The general population who can afford a smartphone, but not an iphone all get BBs.
Its really only the rich kids who have iphones and more geeky types who have androids :|

Though, I must say, I'm really glad I'm not a holder of RIM stock at this point in time :D

Here in Panama theres a lot of change this past two years bcause most of the ppl down here use BBs but now some are moving to android, I currently have a BB Torch and this is my #5 BB, I had a Curve 8120, Curve 8320, Bold 1, Bold 3 and now the Torch, BBs are great for work and I do work a lot with emails, rdm, and browsing almost the entire fkn day....I also own a BB Playbook, it has nice features but the OS is kinda lame :(

I remember a few years ago a Blackberry was the be all and end all, but after having one, I'd never go back (Blackberry Bold / 9000). I breathed a sigh of relief when the contract was over because the phone kept breaking (same happened with my son's Blackberry too). It was my first 'smartphone' and I learned the 'don't believe the hype' lesson the hard way. And of course, u had to pay extra to use Blackberry net., which really stuck in my craw. If they do go down.., they only have themselves to blame as far as I am concerned. I've had simiiliar experiences with HTC.., so now I use a Samsung Galaxy S., which seems well thought out and reliable. I can't see myself eve

Yes, SA's got BB fever at the moment, aspecialy amongst the highscool kids, if RIM keeps up with their audience they wil keep on kicking for a while yet.
