Thread: iPhone and torrenting does anyway do it?

Not sure if anyone has this working and can let me know how it works.

Here is what im thinking.

At work all my trackers are blocked by the work proxy. However I have an iPhone and a seedbox.

What id like to do is to be able to download the .torrent files to my iPhone and then upload them to my seedbox. My seedbox site is not blocked through the work proxy.



Here is what im thinking
1. browse and download .torrents via 3G using safari on the iphone.
2. save em somewhere on the iphone
3. connect iphone to work pc and retrieve the .torrent files to my desktop
4. upload .torrent file to seedbox

I have a jailbroken iphone but am unsure what apps etc I need to use

how would i browse the filesystem on the iphone from my pc to find the.torrent file? Im guessing itunes wont help here

hmmm second problem is the safari doesnt seem to like the .torrent file type and throws an error when i attempt to download it

you can jailbreak it using a tool called quickpwn and get a program from the cydia store called dtunes allows you to download torrents

not sure, try cydia, it have have the application your after...:)

I think I don't know how a seedbox works.

How would you normally use it? If I don't know that I cannot answer your question :laugh:

I thought you "logged into" the seedbox and downloaded a new torrent from there, then you fetched it via FTP.
Do you actually have to upload the .torrent files? How do you do that? FTP to a particular folder?
You might be able to do everything from the iPhone itself (MobileTerminal and a little patience), or VNC into your home computer and do whatever you want from there.

Sorry I've never looked into seedboxes, how exactly does yours work?

lol dude.. just vnc to your seedbox and get the torrents off the site directly

I use symtorrent to download music to my nokia :P

That's what I would do, but I'm not sure if every seedbox is always supposed to have a VNC server available.

If it is, then I would suggest Mocha VNC on the iPhone, doesn't cost too much and works very well.
