Default Battery dies fast on my drioid (Galaxy S Vibrant)

I only had this phone less than a week. So it is not like the battery was weak over a period of time of using it. I had a full charge and talked maybe 20 mins and sent out like 6 texts today. I played a game for like 10 minutes and browsed the web off and on throughout the day maybe 45 mins all together. The phone is less then 10% after being 100% full 7 hours ago.

I am honestly thinking of returning the phone for another model or something. Does anyone else have these problems. Cause I just don't get how it can die so fast....

are you running many sync accounts?

maybe try a task manager like, advanced task killer. its free.

after install, open it and go to settings, change kill level to crazy.
kill frequency to when screen is off.

    this should give some improvements.

i have a desire hd and i rooted the phone and changed the radio settings, and it is so much better.

my battery only lasted 12 hours.

I have something called task manager, I know its different then task killer.

I reduced my brightness, I took off the live wallpaper, I took of the GPS satellite signal. I will give advanced task killer a try....

PS: Would you happen to know how to change the phone lock setting timer. It seems like I leave the phone down like 2 mins and I have to unlock. I looked everywhere for the setting options without any luck. I am kind of new to the Droid phone boom. So I am still figuring it all out!

The brightness is what kills the battery the fastest on my galaxy s. The live wallpaper and gps barely touch it(at least now that the gps is working properly).

I use advanced task killer and manager on mine. Killer to kill those stupid apps that don't close when you leave them and manager for uninstall and battery monitoring etc. I like them both. You do need to be careful with a task killer to net let it kill apps that the phoje actually needs or things you want to update.

The lock setting is tied directly into the screen timeout and can be found under display settings. I wouldn't advise you to set it any higher if you are already having battery issues. Also if you run a lot of widgets that can be a battery drain too even though many look sweet like beautiful widgets and their animations.

If you want some truly smart people to help you with your android phone head over to xda developers and start reading up and posting there.

I installed and used the advanced task killer. What I noticed is that it closes the stuff down. But 10 minutes later when I check it again alot of the programs are all listed again and I did not open them or anything.

    What is up with that?

I'm planning to buy this next month but since batt is a huge problem for me, I'm starting to change my mind about buying this.

there are many apps that run constantly, so even killing them won't do any good, if you think they're draining your battery away you can just uninstall those certain apps
