I haven't made a tutorial in quite a while so here goes. Today we are going to be making a stunning personal logo with your nick in it. to use anywhere and everywhere. The level of photoshop skill required for this is pretty basic, you don't need to be a photoshop guru to follow along.
You don't have to read through all the explanations because some are slightly excessive, to make this tutorial as noob friendly as possible.
What we will be making:
Things you need:
- Adobe photoshop any relatively new version will do.
- Some great brushes can be found in my photoshop megapack.
- basic photoshop knowledge.
- Some creativity and an open mind.
Please post any feedback or requests for future tutorials
So lets get started, first things first. Open up adobe photoshop and create a new document with the size being 452x240
Press enter to invoke the OK button, and you should now have a white canvas with the size you specified.
Select the pain bucket tool by pressing G on your keyboard, or alternatively clicking the pain bucket icon in the toolbox on the left:
now choose the color picker:
In the color picker dialog box choose the following color:
This is the default forum color background for TI v2.0 now click on your white canvas with the paint bucket tool to color it gray.
*please take not we will be removing the background later and it is just for viewing the final result, we want out final logo to be transparent and not tied to a background.
Now that we have our gray canvas select the text tool and write your desired text for the logo, make sure you write it in white. I'm going to be using TorrentInvites as the sample text for this tutorial.
So far we are looking like this:
Now select the layer FX button at the bottom of the layers window
If your layers windows isn't showing press F7.
Apple the following effects:
Use this gradient:
And this stroke.
Now your text should be looking pretty smooth with a 2.0 web style going on:
Now duplicate the text layer once, remove the stroke by clicking on the eye icon next to where it says stroke:
Select the stroke-less layer and press ctrl+alt+right arrow key 5 times.
select all the text layers apart from the topmost one and press ctrl+E
you should now have this:
ctrl click on the bottom text layer labled "<your nick> copy 5"
now you should have a marching ants selection around your text.
Go to image>adjustments>exposure and set your exposure settings as follows:
press enter to invoke the OK button and viola:
Now were going to make a gradient for the final touch select both your text layers and combine them by pressing Ctr+E now duplicate the combined text layer with Ctrl+J select the duplicate layer and go to Edit> transform> flip vertical once your layer is flipped align it so it looks like this:
Now go to layer>layer mask>hide all and your reflection layer should dissapear, select the gradient tool bye pressing G make sure your using a black and white gradient and draw a vertical line across the text.
now you have a cool reflection all that is left to do is delete the gray background layer to make it transparent and here is your result:
This can be made into a variety of colors
