Thread: How to: Make Invisible Hidden Folders

Alright, I'm sure a lot of you will have files that you dont want people to see, or find. Guys (and girls) you might have some umm "special videos" that you dont prying eyes to find.

This is just a simple way to make a folder disappear.

1. Make a new folder. You know the deal, right click->new->folder



2. Rename the folder. This is by far the most important part of this basic process. First you must delete the text "New Folder". Secondly you must Hold down ALT and press 0160 on the numpad.
You should now have a folder that appears like so


3. Right click once again and select "Properties". You'll want to navigate to the "Customize" tab.


4. Select "Change Icon..." and scroll to the right until you find a gap in the icons. Select the gap and apply changes.


And you're finished. You should be left with a folder that looks like so:


It will only be visible when selected and no one will know any better. A good tip is to place the folder on the desktop in a specified location that you only know, no one will see it and it wont show up when using explorer.



Of course you could always just password protect your folder, but this is alot more interesting. :laugh:
