Thread: Library.nu - Review - Tutorial

Hi all... maybe you have been using it... maybe you haven't even heard of it... Today I will be speaking to you about LIBRARY.NU a free ebook "store" :)

I found out about while studying... and while I had problems with my university library. I had to pay money for books I wasn't renewing I could not find what I wanted... most of the books were taken by other students before me... and kept on purpose so that noone else can use the same info. Well @#$%@ that... :) you can download all the books you want for free as long as you keep 10 simple rules :

First of all you need to create an account which nowadays has to be a gmail. you follow the link on top right corner :

And then fill in the form :

Afterwards you can login by using the top right link and fill in the following :

You then find yourself in the following screen where you can search for the book you want :

(in this occasion I did not search anything but just circled the most important info of the first book that was there)
Red arrow : search box
Green box : Book title - link to enter the book you found, so that you can then download.
Orange box : Googlebookid and year of publication. Interestingly the googlebookid link opens some of the pages of the book so that you can have a look before downloading. and on the bottom of each book you get the categories that the book fits in.
Finally you have letters which if are green then the book has the following attributes:

F: Featured
B: Bookmarked
V: Vector
S: Scanned
O: Searchable
C: Cover
P: Paginated

The next step if interesting is to get the book. To do so you follow the link (title of book) and get the below screen:

The black circles are the links where you can get the book, and on the side of each link you (red circles) can get the password that unlocks the zip/rar/whatever file you get. Sometimes you may not need one.

If you follow the my account link you can check your accounts details:

The website does not have any ads so mainly (I suppose) relies on donations which are of 10,20,50 Euro.

The pluses are that you become a: Regular+Donator user.

the arrows show which submenu is shown in the relevant box.

Finally if you want to upload a book there the following guidelines have to be followed :

1. CREATE OPTION HAS BEEN DISABLED FOR SOME USER CLASSES. STOP ASKING ABOUT IT.
2. FURTHERMORE SOME PEOPLE HAVE MENTIONED INVITES, WE DON'T KNOW ABOUT IT, IF YOU FIND A GA APPLY THERE.

my college provides me with EBSCOhost which is really nice.

I made an account there, and it was pretty decent.

well the most important thing is... what happens after uni... ?? :P
now you might be able to find anything... but when you're finished ... you start looking for books or anything else and then you don't have access to no electronic library or any of the old cool access areas :)

Is there something after uni? I didn't realize that . Seriously though, good job on the tutorial!

well library.nu is there for after uni :P I mean you can't find papers but surely you can get all the books you want :P
Of course you might not find the specific book by the writer you need... but you can find something very close in subject... :) plus this solves the purchasing issue of several kindle owners ;)

This site is just incredible. I'm so glad Jenna pointed out this site to me some time ago. Thanks again for that Jenna! I've found so many invaluable books over there, it's just unbelievable. I'd never have had the money to buy them. This is the site to bookmark if you're looking for useful academic books.

Problem is:

Signup seems to be disabled, both at welcome - library.nu and at https://ssl.Library.nu/account:register. Have they changed the address and if so, would anybody happen to know the current link?

I just checked... and you are right... it only allows you to login... will check if there is any kind of update in the site and will let you know...
