The World According to Garp – John Irving
Incredible fiction about Garp from his birth to death through America on 1950's. Talk about feminism + procrastination like Revolutionnary Road.
Too lazy at the moment to read the whole list, but of the '2000s' section, I strongly recommend Kafka on the Shore. I've read Dead Air; I freakin' LOVE Iain Banks, but I'm not sure that deserves to be on there. Very long way from his best work.
I've half-read How the Dead Live; got interrupted by something else while reading it, and never went back. Must do some day.
Hmm, looks like I've only read about .001% of those. I better get cracking...
I'd recommend All Quiet on the Western Front if you're looking to be more of a peace advocate.
The Three Musketeers is just plain classic. Definitely worth a read.
Don't read To Kill a Mockingbird, unless you plan on going out and shooting yourself a mockingbird.
To Kill a Mockingbird is a great book, Atticus Finch is a revolutionary character.
My favorite book however is Catch-22, funny yet brutally honest; you'll never forget it. Also The Fountainhead is an interesting read on a new though process objectivism.
