Default Where Can I Find the Best Book Reviews?

There must be thousands of sites out there with good information. However, I would like to about some really good book review websites, preferably from someone who is a frequent vistor of such a site. Word of mouth is always great, but it doesn't hurt to have more opinions.

Usually there will already be a lot of hype when a new series of books makes it way into the library, but sometimes that hype is overrated and I like to get honest opinions from experienced readers.

If anyone would be kind enough to share this information with me, I will be very thankful that you did.

Also on a side note, if you know of any great sites to get awesome deals on books/box sets feel welcome to share.

Since no one else has replied to this I thought I would. Personally I get all of my reviews from amazon, the reason being is that the community is quite large and therefore you end with a big variation in reviews-which arguably is what you want. Many of the reviews are sensible and intelligent in the way they write so you don't really have to sift through tons of stupid and nonsensical reviews. Amazon is also the site were I purchase all of my books, you can often find box sets, get postage deals and get reward points for being a long term member. Hope that helps =D

It's an old thread, but I think I could share some experience. I perfectly agree with Insidious9 about Amazon - I never buy a book without checking the comments and reviews there. Recently, I discovered Goodreads - a very nice site for keeping track of the books you read. Users can rate the books and post comments - most of them are very thoughtful and intelligent. The site has grown pretty big, so you can find plenty of good comments there. If you join, you can have some recommendations based on the books you read and love.
    Good luck:)

GoodReads is my favorite book site. You can discover new books and get reviews, plus make lists of books you have read or want to read, etc. Plus, they do giveaways. I've won like 20 books from them in less than a year. Good times.

GoodReads indeed looks very promising, apart from bestseller lists I'm so clueless what to pick, I've never been a person who browses through a bookstore and actually find something I like.

I know what you mean. Before I found GoodReads, I would go into my public library and just stare at the books with no idea what to get... Once you start rating books you have read, the GoodReads suggestions will really help. I know I've found a lot of really good books through their suggestions.

Like others here I browse through Amazon reviews and Goodreads if I am checking out something specific. The only review/news site I really follow for books though is The Millions.
