Work it Make it Do it... nana nana Never over! Daft punk is too good
On to the tutorial
If you're like me you have many usernames and/or passwords on a variety of sites.
This often leads to the pressing of a ever-so-familiar Lost Password button.
No more! What if I told you that with one free app you could:
- Organize all your trackers/sites for quick access.
- Stay as secure as possible! While logging in 5X quicker as well.
- Have a different password on all your sites (if you so wish)
- With passwords that are damn-near uncrackable!
Example of a randomly generated password: .^!xf@B5MT/D;%h'lpr+@J6- All while using the same 2-3 key combination to login to all of them!! (Skip to the end for a demonstration)
I'll spare you guys the rest. Just follow the tut, you won't regret it!!
First download Keepass from here.
Install and open it.
If asked to make a new database then do so, otherwise click the highlighted button seen in the image below to make a new one.
I just called mine db.
Also give it a master password, which you only need to type in once per session (for security).
Now you can either put your entries in one of the preset groups or make your own by right clicking and selecting add group.
Give it a name such as Trackers. Then right click inside the group (in the empty column on the right) and select Add Entry or just hit Ins/Insert on the keyboard.
This box will open up.
I've filled it out, just as an example.
As you can see it's rather basic.
Title is for example TorrentLeech or Torrent Invites.
Username is your username on the website.
The Password field is already filled with a strong random password (which is fine)
You may also specify how the password is generated.
Hitting the highlighted button in the image below will open up a context menu where you can either decide from a couple preset password generating profiles or make new ones in the Password Generator.
Remember: Don't put your current password in that field, the point of a randomly generated password is for maximum security.
None of that is necessary, but optional.
Put in the URL of the site, for example torrentleech.org and select OK to save the entry when done.
Note: If the name of the website isn't in the title (if you put TL instead of Torrentleech), then you must go to the Auto-Type tab... Then select Add.
From here you can select the Target Window if it is open, or if it's not then put in something like *TorrentLeech* including the stars. Or *Torrent Invites* for this website. Put it in the Target Window field.
Now we need to change your current password (on the website) to the new encrypted/secure password.
Right click the entry and copy it. Or just double click it. You will have a set amount of time (12 seconds i believe) to paste it into the right field before the clipboard is cleared.
Once you save changes, it's time to test it!! Hit OK and minimize keepass (Don't forget to save the database).
I recommend you change the settings so it minimizes to the taskbar and also make it start with windows. Feel free to play with the preferences.
Go to your website and when you're asked to login click on the username field and hit Ctrl+Alt+A which is the default Auto-Type combination (can be changed)
Magically all your info is typed and submitted and your logged in within a few seconds.
Check out this example!!
