First of all what is dropbox :

HTC made a partnership with dropbox to add 23go of space on HTC devices users dropbox for 2 years.
It’s only available for HTC devices but someone on Xda ([MOD] Dropbox APK +23GB of space *v2* - xda-developers) made an apk to make it happen on every android devices.

Follow my tutorial if you want 23go more space for free :)

Message from the modder of the app found on Xda

"Hello guys.

Today I got contacted by Dropbox CTO and he kindly asked me to stop creating and sharing those mods.
I agreed.

No doubt this was a mistake.

He also said that any bonus space gained using my mods, will be taken away.

So, please, don't ask for the APK and don't PM me.
I've removed as many links and files as possible.

If you really need that space, support dropbox and buy a Pro account!

I was being stupid, just testing my skills, as I don't need that space at all. :|"

What do you need to complete this tutorial:



An android device (I have a Samsung SGS2) or you can install BlueStacks on a windows PC !!
A dropbox account - create one on www.dropbox.com or you can use my referral address: http://db.tt/WtIZfDGN (Thank you if that’s the case :)

First step (optional):
You need to activate on your device the possibility to install .apk from "Unknown sources"
To do this follow this :
To allow app installs from non-Market apps, tap the menu button on your home screen, then choose Settings >> Applications >> Check Unknown sources

Second step (optional):
Change the password of your dropbox account just for security purpose if you want.
And you have to complete all the "introduction" five step that you can find here : https://www.dropbox.com/gs

Third step :
Download the modified apk :

Fourth step :
Uninstall the official dropbox apps if you already have it.
Install the modified one and log on with your account.

Fifth step :
You have to upload a file to your dropbox through the modified dropbox.
After a few minutes/day it depends (I had to wait a day to receive the email)
You should receive an email like this one :

“Congrats on becoming a Dropbox Guru! We've awarded you 23 GB of bonus space for the next 24 months! You now have 25 GB on Dropbox. To get even more space, check out our upgrade options.

Thanks again for supercharging your HTC device with Dropbox!

Sixth step :
Uninstall the modified apk and install the official one.
Now enjoy it :)

There is also a third version of the modified .apk of dropbox (the one here is the V2) that you can find here :

If with the V2 dropbox it still doesn't work try with the signeddropbox.apk :)

Does this mean that after 24 months you will lose the extra space?

Btw, i have not tried this yet, I'm just asking if you know.

Alright, I decided to go ahead and try this.
Followed every step, and IT WORKS!

It only took me a few seconds to get the extra space!

Hey KF, or anyone who already have extra space on dropbox, does this add extra 23GB to your existing space or is it limited to 25GB? ie: if I have 10GB now, would I have 25GB or 35GB after doing this?

You will have X + 23GB. I used to have around 17, now I have around 40GB :P
