Well to keep your computer virus free this to most people can be tricky. If you want to start fresh cause you think you might be infected. best course and easiest course of action would be to back up important files IE: movies, pictures, music, video games whatever. Then do a complete reformat and install windows fresh if not well. Here are some tips to help keep your computer running smoothly.



Step 1: download and install Ccleaner. It's a free open source program that will clean your computer of temporary files and junk. it also cleans your registry. Among also disabling startup programs . A must have to any windows system in my opinion.

When you open up ccleaner for the first time you will be greeted with this window.
This window allows the customization of what file you want deleted and what you want to keep.



If your scared of deleting your cookies of some important sites you can choose to include or exclude certain cookies from deletion in this window.

There is also the registry cleaner mind you when dealing with the registry you willl want to back it up in case ccleaner makes a mistake or something, you just can never be too sure.



Once you have chosen the settings you want you can then automate the system to run at every windows restart.
Ccleaner also comes with a secure deletion feature. just in case your the paranoid type.




Now that you have Ccleaner installed and properly configured time to move onto your antivirus. Now for most people like Avast or AVG but for the purpose of this tutorial We are gonna use Comodo Internet Security Suite. It is compleatly free and probably one of the best anti virus programs out there.

This program is a firewall and antivirus all in one. Now rule of thumb when allowing programs or services access to your computer or the internet.

If you do not reconize it. it's probably ok to deny it access. also most cases Comodo will tell you if the service or program is safe to allow access to the net. like all firewalls this software is very customizable. it is also fairly user friendly . May take you a bit to setup but once its configured and setup properly. Its a breeze.

I will not go into detail because the software is pretty stright forward install. update.. then it will just ask you what you want to allow. simple easy.

Now onto this next item on the list to keep your computer nice and smooth is well your browser selection. Alot of websites that you may or may not visit. may have malicious scripts on them. Most browsers do ahve safe guards against this. but not all. firefox is a excellent choice for any user. But my personal favorite is Comodo Dragon. what's different? well comodo dragon comes with a Secure DNS feature. Pretty much blocks or tells you whitch sites are malicious as your about to enter them and you can decide whether or not to heed it's warning. Comodo Dragon is essentially Google Chrome redesigned with security features and optimized for speed. When it comes to loading web sites. Comodo dragon is really fast. you can get it here:

As you can see the features are quite nice, Comodo Dragon also comes equipped with it's own translator. It can translate websites that are not in your prefered language.

Pretty simple an is very easy to use. Designed for the novice or the advanced class of computer geek.

Now last but not least the last item on the table for having a nice clean computer system is Spy bot search and destroy beta 4. Unlike its earlier versions spybot comes with live scanner that scans your computer constantly looking for crap . Also you can immunise yourself from malicious cookies or adware preventing future attacks. A must have to any secure system.

Like any decent anti malware program. You can set it to run at every windows restart. Combined with ccleaner and Comodos internet security suite. I have had a compleatly virus free internet expircence since about 2009. These programs are what keeps my computer safe and clean.

Also remeber to defrag your computer about once a month or every two weeks depending on how often you move your files around.

I use CCleaner very often, it is a great program. It's a must have for all windows users!!

i love this program, i had it for years & it's still doing well till now, & so far no viruses for a year :D

My computer has been doing ok, but I may have to give this a try. I've had pretty good luck with the combo of Bitdefender, Malwarebytes, & AML Registry cleaner, but I like to give other programs a shot once in a while.

How would you recon ccleaner+ panda antivirus+ panda firewall.

Easiest way to clean computer from viruses is to install Linux.

P.S: could not resist, it's not that I have something against Windows, I find them good for gaming.

The safest way is not Connect to the network. I think.

Is Linux really that much better? I've heard it is but it not user friendly. If I'm really good on the PC is this the better choice for me? I'm really getting tired of crashes. Thanks:)

It's user friendly and you have great community support too. You can try Ubuntu dekstop LiveCD that can give you clear picture if it's for you or not, https://help.ubuntu.com/community/LiveCD

No need to install anything just boot form CD and see it yourself, if you need additional software to install just open Ubuntu software center available from desktop, no need to search for programs on web, pretty much everything can be installed like that.
