ProleteriatWorth to mention the numbers and something very important: Even though PTH has 20,000 less members than Apollo (14,622 and 34,034), it has 100,000 more perfect FLACs, 70,000 more torrents, 82,000 more artist, 40,000 more releases. So comparing every category, all numbers and always have in mind the huge difference between members, PTH is not only surpassing in perfect flacs, but in everything. PTH is way ahead, more quality, more members there helping the community. Staff took right decisions imo. One of them, they choose the best members around BT (also ex Elite or above on What) to be part of the community, now that it's early.

I bet in few months PTH will be well known as the next What.cd, while Apollo and others will be great alternatives.

Of course don't forget Waffle! They work on some epic revolutionary changes! Check here. (Waffle will always have a place in my heart)

Damn it, pb_teo. I'm already bummed that I probably won't be getting onto PTH any time soon.. now you're just making it worse

Ok, PTH may be the Mecca of music sites to come, but the folks at Apollo (and notwhat.cd) are having a fair go of it. And as you said, they can all co-exist.. and SHOULD co-exist in harmony. The more music sites that are thriving, the less chance a take-down will disrupt the community to the extent of what.cd.

Best time to seed (use a seedbox) at apollo due to the ongoing freeleech with their 12 days of christmas albums

I was all over that freeleech, bergstein, you'd better believe it! :)

Some trackers are tough like the old what.cd but not impossible! Slow and steady does it! :)

    Announcement posted yesterday:

On the twelfth day of Christmas my true love sent to me: 12 Freeleech Tokens, Eleven Pipers Piping, Ten Lords a Leaping, Nine Ladies Dancing, Eight Maids a Milking, Seven Swans a Swimming, Six Geese a Laying, Five Golden Rings, Four Calling Birds, Three Staff Picks, Two Turtle Doves and an Invite!

Yes, you read it right! To celebrate the new year, we've credited 12 Freeleech tokens to your account and you'll be receiving an invite within 24 hours. In addition to that we'll be having three picks today, one staff and the other two, VIP picks!

Don't forget that you're still able to earn FL Tokens for uploading perfect FLACs. One (1) FL token per five (5) perfect FLAC uploads and One (1) Invite per 12 perfect FLAC uploads.

Make sure you use up the FL Tokens by the end of the month! ;)

Some perhaps. I (perhaps stupidly) spent much time downloading only the stuff I actually wanted during the freeleech.. and of course the torrents marked for "help needed" for seeding. Also, my seedbox is busting at the seams while I not so patiently wait for seedboxes.cc to move people over to the new servers/plans.

Pretty great 12 Days of Christmas celebration for the site.
I managed 58 Gig upload versus 9Gig download using a 5 dollar seedbox.

    Posted Feb. 6:

    Greetings, citizens of Apollo!

We humbly apologize for our extended silence and hope you enjoy the following update, as it covers a wide array of relevant topics.

We thank you for your continued support and are humbled by your dedication to making Apollo a terrific home for music lovers world wide.

    Updates and upgrades
No doubt most of you are well hydrated at this point. However, with the collective health in mind, we upgraded our servers in order to better accommodate our growing user base and prevent any and all catastrophes related to overconsumption of liquids.

We would also like to take this time to commend our excellent development team, they are working tirelessly behind the scenes to make all of our lives a little easier. Please show them your support and gratitude as they continue to improve and build upon our strong foundation. There are many projects in the works that we are excited to share with you, so keep your eyes glued to the front page for upcoming news!

    Editing forum + Charlie Team
Did you misspell Phish again? Not to worry, our magnificent team of Charlies are ready and waiting to assist you! Behold our glorious Editing Forum where badly spelled album titles and pesky merges come to die. While it is still possible to report torrents suffering from these horrible defects, we highly recommend you bring these issues here instead, as your problem will not only be solved expediently but you will also be alleviating a lot of unnecessary work for our staff team.

As a rule of thumb, only torrents with these issues belong in the editing forum:
    Album/Artist merges
    Album/artist title editing
    Genre tag editing
Release info editing (Label, catalogue number, year, edition, etc)
    Scene tag adding/removing

Please keep in mind that elite+ also have minor editing privileges. Once promoted, you are more than welcome to peruse the Editing Forum and lend a hand to our Charlie Team. A big thanks to the many Elite+ who have already volunteered a hefty chunk of their time to helping clean our beloved site!

    The Apollo team is growing!
As our site continues to grow, so too does the wonderful staff team here at Apollo! Without further ado, we would like to introduce our three new Torrent Moderators [vector edit: usernames omitted] to the staff team!

Please join us in giving them a warm welcome and remember to take it easy on them as they grow into their new roles.

    Interested in being an interviewer?
Apollo is indeed growing, but many more homeless music lovers are awaiting shelter outside our front door. The interviewers have been swamped and are in need of more support. As of now, we are accepting new applications for a position within the team. This is a great way to become involved and we would love to have you! If interested, please message Sea with a short statement explaining why you would like to join our Interview Team, along with any other pertinent info (i.e, past experience).

    Development news
We are currently working on multiple projects at once and one of the things we are working on is an updated version of the LogChecker, which we are going to beta test within the month. There are also few minor issues with our SSL (https) tracker that stems from old torrent clients/OSes and we are working on solving it without sacrifice. There are other small bugs that we need to squash, but we feel we're on the right path and can't wait to see what the future brings!

That's all for now, hopefully this update quenched your thirst, and be on the lookout for some staff picks from our new team additions within the week!

In an effort to spur continued growth and give back to our wonderful community, we have implemented one of our predecessor's most popular features - Vanity House featured releases! Starting today, and continuing bi-monthly, we will be showcasing a randomly chosen release found in our Vanity House Forum, which will then be displayed on the front page. These selections will be given Neutral Leech status and will be chosen via unanimous vote from our staff team. If possible, a minimum of 3 releases will be in consideration per rotation.
For those who are interested in having their music promoted in this fashion, we have a few expectations that need to be met in order to be selected. They are as follows:

    Criteria for promotion

    • The four main release formats must be included on a release's torrent page in order to be considered (flac/320/v0/v2)
    • Release must include album art/bio/appropriate tags/etc and follow Apollo's upload rules to a T. Those that do not fit our standard upload requirements will not be considered
    • All potential choices must be posted in their own thread within the Vanity House Forum. This allows users a chance to interact with the artist and filter discussion from other areas of Apollo
    • All vanity house submissions should be uploaded by the original artist who must also be a member of our community. A user may upload an artist's release by proxy only when given permission by the artist to do so. Proof of membership will still be required of the artist in order for their release to be considered for promotion.
    • Bandcamp/soundcloud/etc links are preferred, but their absence is not necessarily a deal-breaker

Note: Trumping of featured vanity house releases will NOT be tolerated. Selections will be given a thorough vetting from staff prior to being selected and we anticipate no issues on this front. If, for any reason, you feel a Vanity House release is uploaded inappropriately, we ask you to respectably PM either the staff or original uploader/artist. This rule only pertains to our featured vanity house releases.

Lets begin! Our first Vanity House Promotion happens to be the first (and only... hint hint) release to be posted in the Vanity House Forum.
