I've done a quick search on Google and it looks like it supports MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 (http://www.sony.co.in/support/faq/39...ory/tvp+lcd+tv).

This should also help you Supported Video Formats - AVForums.com

You'll need to convert your AVI file.

But to be honest, the best thing you could do is buy yourself a media player and plug in your USB flash drive to play pretty much every format.

Quick google search revealed that Sony Bravia can't play AVI files.

Your video file must be encoded in MPEG-1, with .MPG/.MPEG ending.

This looks like a program to do the job: WinFF - Free Video Converter

I must say that I didn't test it, but interface looks very simple. There are many other converters to be found @google, if this doesn't suit your taste

    Hope it helped! Sonia.

[EDIT: oops! someone before me... ]

I have plugged an AV cable from my video card straight into my TV and I see all I want straight from my PC without copying anything on disks or flshdrives. Works flawless !!

And I have options too as how I want to see:

I use the Extended one as with one click I drag my movie straight onto TV screen :)

Xbox is not worth the money unless you plan to play games. Considering it's lack of codec support you could pay $130 used to $230 new, or get the media player with full codec support for $80 bucks. Buying used adds an additional risk if codec support isn't already installed. The majority of used Xbox' are banned from live and can't install the codecs. OP already states he has a bravia, so most likely in the future he'd prolly want to enjoy full 1080p. As the most popular container for HD is .mkv the Xbox is lacking drastically, it even falls short in the .mp4 compartment as well.

I also have HDMI out on my PC but I don't think OP has a video card to support this. He isn't very clear on his options but makes it clear he wants to play from his flash drive. The stand alone media player or a stand alone DVD/divx player will play from USB.

the only way i can do it now "im stuck in ICE storm"
and since im low on the dough ($$$) i did convert my file from AVI to .mpeg 1 adn .mpeg 2 and while the file did play on the tv. it was verry small and took only 8 inches or so in the middle of the screen,

What do i need to do to order to fix the picture size?

Try using hanbdrake to convert the files. Make sure you keep the resolution and other stuff the same.
