Default Windows 7: This copy of Windows is not genuine.

I've been getting this message since this morning. It's also accompanied by this screen:

My desktop's wallpaper also disappears and is now black.

I've obiously went online to look for a solution but the only one I could find involves me renaming some Windows files in the System 32 dir but I couldn't find them; and since it is the first step of the method, I can't go any further.

Any of you guys experienced that and knows how to fix it? I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 32 Bits for your information.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hey there Ubi,

I take it that you're using a pre-activated Windows 7 copy found online. If that's case, it explains the non-genuine message, as most people using pre-activated copies are likely to encounter that message one day or another.

I suggest using the Windows Loader by Daz, which is the from MyDigitalLife forum. It's the best loader around and it's compatible with all Windows 7 updates, including KB971033. I've been using it on many computers for more than 8 months now with no problems whatsoever.

If you know what activation method was used in your release of Windows 7 (BIE and RemoveWAT being the most popular), the second post of the thread offers a solution.

If that still doesn't work, the developers of the loader offer personalized support in the same thread, which leads to a successful activation in most cases.

And finally, if all fails, you can opt for a clean install from an untouched copy of Windows 7, and then use the loader for activation. Follow this guide.

    Good luck

You can also try "RemoveWAT" tool, it's the best from the ones I used. Google it or take here:
Hotfile.com: One click file hosting: RemoveWAT.226.rar

When I tried to resolve the same issue with Microsoft (my copy was actually genuine), I just waisted a bunch of time with no result so if your situation is similar, don't bother, just use one of the suggested tools :)

The Windows 7 Loader by Daz has worked flawlessly for me on many installations. It will fix all you problems.

Also, if your windows copy is legit, unplug or disable any other OS. I boot osx and win7 and apparently the genuine checker thingee, doesn't like it when you have dual booting going on. I just unplugged the other drives, so that win7 was the only drive booting. Did my updates, and the genuine checker did it's thing and gave me the a-ok. Then I plugged my other drives back in back to it's original config.

This will work but when you formated you're Pc to install you're new OS if you did not tick the little box that says (Activate when you go online) then you're most likely screwed "Remove WAT" wont work. If this is the case i would reformat the Pc again and on the install make sure you un-tick the box, it will let you install the OS.

When you are done and the windows installation is done, then go ahead and use the "Remove WAT" everything should be fine. It will reboot after automatically.

    Hope this helps.

Removewat is the best way to remove that error.

Yeah. The best way to activate is using Mod Bios... just request or do a search on MyDigitalLife about your bios with SLIC 2.1.

I like this activation because is cleaner then loaders or other cracks. But people have afraid of update your bios.
