Default T-I discreet browsing of the forums

Say somebody wanted to visit the T-I forums from somewhere but didn't want anybody to know, i.e. say you are on a lunch break at the office, but don't any kind of monitoring to see you browsing torrent releated sites. You can't use any kind of HTTP proxy (I think) according to the T-I rules. I suppose using OpenVPN through your seedbox would have the same restrictions? (i.e. anything that hides your IP is bad?)

I'm just wondering if there is any discreet way that one is allowed to browse the T-I forums.

If your company has in-house monitoring then using a proxy is useless because the only person you're hiding from is T-I. If you think someone will use that computer later on and you don't want them to know then delete the browsing history completely or just delete T-I. If you think your company has a keystroke logger then I'm not sure there's a way to get around that.

There's a great addon for Firefox that automatically deletes the browsing history for any site that you choose, it's called HistoryBlock. If your company has software that records your browsing history then I'm not sure if this program would work. I know that it deletes the page from your history once the page has finished loading. So I guess it would come down to when that software records the history, is it when you hit enter or once every couple of minutes.

Hope this helped a little and you should use HistoryBlock anyways because of the danger outlined in the following thread.

I don't think so. If I use SSH to my seedbox, I could route all firefox activity through my seedbox including DNS lookups. The only thing the company would see (if they monitor traffic) is encrypted traffic to and from the seedbox, they would not know (based on network traffic) which sites are being visited.

If the seedboxes ip is static I would pm an admin and let them know of your reasons for wanting to use a VPN and explain that your reasons aren't for hiding your ip from T-I but to hide it from your work. I remember a while ago T-I let certain people from universities use a proxy as this was the only way to get around the Uni's filtering. Although I'm sure one will read your thread soon enough and give an official answer.

There is no uniform answer to this question. Canadianguy, I will talk to you privately about this as every situation is unique.
