Thread: Piece size of torrents

I used uTorrent for a long time and always set the piece size to auto when creating a new torrent. Now I'm using ruTorrent and there isn't an option for setting it automatically. So I was wondering which piece size is recommended for which file size.

* Files up to 50MiB: 32KiB piece size
* Files 50MiB to 150MiB: 64KiB piece size
* Files 150MiB to 350MiB: 128KiB piece size
* Files 350MiB to 512MiB: 256KiB piece size
* Files 512MiB to 1.0GiB: 512KiB piece size
* Files 1.0GiB to 2.0GiB: 1024KiB piece size
* Files 2.0GiB and up: 2048KiB piece size
* Piece sizes above 2048KiB are not recommended.

Thanks man. Uploaded my first waffle iron with this info.

I use mostly 256 kn for all my torrents except when i want to cross-seed. Normally i start the first torrent at 256 kb and for others i move one piece above:)

Till now I had no problem:)
