Thread: Help for ps3 jailbreak guide

I am planning on buying a ps3 since GT5 came out. But I want to jailbreak it as well, but after long searching for info on the internet, I dont still fully quite understand the process of it. (Tech noob)

So I am wondering if there are any people here who own a JailBreaked ps3 and can teach me how to do it. Do I have to buy a USB dongle or can I also make one myself with a regular usb drive.

Plus I saw some info about that only firmware 3.41 is possible for modding? Since I buy a new one I assume that it will include the newest firmware 3.50. So is it possible to mod that version as well. Since I read that downgrading firmware is not possible?

I understand that after modding than online gaming will not be possible but I play online games on my pc rather so dont really care about that.

Anyone who can provide me with some useful info or tutorial I will be so grateful, plus I can give invites for people that are really helping out. I have invites for GFT, BitMe, TL and many more. Shoot me a PM if you're interested.

I'm also a noob at this i hope somebody could lend a hand and give us a step by step process on how to jailbreak. There might might be terms that we are not quite familiar with. I think a patient person will be of great help.

you have to buy a USB dongle or use one of the devices in this page if you have any of them Device compatibility list - PSFreedom Wiki (
the one that are marked complete) also there is a couple of rockbox devices that you can use, but the USB dongles can be as cheap as 9 USD

for now it will only work on firmware 3.41, you can probably still find a new 160gb slim with 3.41 in the smaller gaming stores (GT5 bundle came with a 3.42)

there is also a downgrader PS Jailbreak - Now With Unlimited Free Downgrades - PSX PS2 PS3 Scene Modchip & Jailbreak Community but it cost 100 USD you can find more info and tutorial at PSX-Scene but if you have any questions just ask and i will try to answer them as best as i can.

oh and BTW you can't play GT5 on a jailbroken ps3 yet unless you have the downgrader because you will have to update to 3.50 play GT5 then downgrade to 3.41 to use jailbreak

You can downgrade. (but device is costly)

To make your own jailbreak stick but you need a USB development board to program. I do not believe it is 3.50 compatible yet. I believe that the online videos are fake.

It is almost the same cost to buy a board ready to go. At least a clone version.

if you have an iphone you can use it to jailbreak but it have to be either First Generation or 3G only and have iOS Firmware 3.1.2/3.1.3/4.0.0/4.0.1/4.0.2/4.1 jailbroken with PwnageTool, Redsn0w or blackra1n

even though no one has been banned yet i'd still be worried playing online

Hey guy's. Im going to work on another tutorial. I have just finished modding my tmobile g1. Hmm. I installed a whole new case which took like 2 or so hours. Damn, everything was so small. I seen the whole internals. Was awesome. I should of posted pics, but I actually take pics with my phone. So I couldnt take pics. But I will try to find a way.

After I did the case, I rooted my G1 and installed Dream Recovery, and installed Cynaogen 6.0 Release Candidate 1. Everything works perfectly. I love it.

Okay, so Im going to post a tutorial on how to flash the psfreedom for G1, and install backup manager. Get everything working, but first I gotta find something to take pics of my phone with the install process.

After everything should be the same. So, instead of using the HTC G1 phone, you use the dongle, and follow the rest of the steps, and you should be grand.
