The jailbreak community is working on their own downgrader at the moment entitled PSgrade. Shouldn't be too long before a free solution is out, so if you can hold out a little longer don't rush off and spend $100 on an official PSJB dongle. One of many cheap usb dev boards will suffice ;)
Allright, thank you guys for all the info. It helped a lot. But now I am gonna buy a used ps3 with FW 3.41 installed.
Does anyone know a good webshop where I can buy the original PSjailbreak and not a clone version?
You should probably get P3go (best jailbreak device around) ... Simple and efficient, you just reboot the console and press power and eject buttons.
I think everyone neglected to mention that GT5 won't work on a jailbroken PS3. So if that was the main game you were hoping to play. Forget about it for now. :p

For my jailbreak I used a minimus AVR key. Was extremely simple to do. Plenty of tutorials around the net.
