Default Download speed lower than connection rating

Hi, when I try to download torrents I can only get a max download speed of 750kbs, but if i download something with firefox I get almost 1,000kbs consitently. utorrent will sometime spike to 850kbs for a second but then stays at 750kbs.

When you download by uTorrent, how fast you download depend on how fast your peers upload to you. Also, there is overhead require to communicate between you and your peers which consume some KB/s. Hopefully it answer you question.

Also, you can tweak your utorrent setting by incrase global maximum connections and maximum connected peers per torrent which is under Options->Preference->Bandwidth. However, a value that is too high might cause problems too, so you might want to find your sweet spot. I do 200 max global and 100 max connected peers on mine. =)

while downloading from Firefox do you use any download accelerator ???

if there is a frequent variation then maybe it has something to do with your ISP or the utorrent setting...

the best thing you can try is take a speedtest(from Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test) and see your upload/download speed then optimize your utorrent accordingly...

Verizon Dsl, its rated at 8168kbs downstream and 1200kbs uploadstream which should be a max of 1021KBsnd 150KBs. I dont think there should be a 300KBs overhead. I can easily run my upload at 150 and have no problem keeping it there, even if I limit the upload i still cant get my speed to stay above 750.

Hey cavalier3400, you might wanna jump on torrent which have more seeder than leecher on private tracker. Preferably a torrent had 200 seeders and less than 10 leecher. Do a search on your tracker and sort it by seeder, find the one have the most seeder and low leecher. Technically you should be able to max your connection if you have the right torrent.

It doesnt matter what torrent, I have been on private trackers with a ton of seeders, even public torrents, it doesnt matter I still cannot get anywhere near my max even if I use multiple torrents, I can still never max my download out, even the global speed never goes past 750 even with it set to unlimited.
