    Default Ratio Question

OK first off Mods if this is not the right place, please move it.

Now. I know I cant be the only one encountering this issue. As I have moved my activities over to private trackers I have noticed there is not much torrent activity on a number of the popular sites. I have no problem seeding files but when I want to d/l something and I get it at 400kb/s, and then u/l at .08kb/sec it doesnt seem like it will ever even out to a positive ratio.

So does anyone have a suggestions as to how I could get my ratio up if there isnt anyone d/l? I even tried d/l the most leeched torrent and I am still only uploading at 1.8kb/s. I know its not my connection, I have 500kb/s up and I have no prob maxing that out on public trackers.

Please Help me support the community.....

When choosing a torrent to seed the ratio between seeders and leechers is more important than the raw number of leechers. The lower the ratio, the better.

Secondly, you need to consider how many partial seeders there are in the torrent. Movies with samples/subtitles will have partial seeders, no question. With large packs its almost certain most of the leechers are in fact partial seeders.

If the site you're using has RSS feeds, use them! If you can get the file before the bulk of the peers arrive, you can max out your upload for hours.

If it all goes downhill, consider purchasing a seedbox for a month or two. Download popular torrents (even torrents you don't actually want) to your seedbox and seed them as much as your bandwidth limits allow. This will give you a nice buffer to work with.

Unless you are willing to put in the time stay at popular sites where there will always be leechers. If you choose a higher private tracker then you need to compete for grabbing useless torrents to buffer.

You got to do what you got to do. I also try to upload files once in a while that are not on said tracker to get some upload.

Alright .. i am gonna explain it breifly to you so that you can understand it clearly :)

~Seeders are the one who are seeding the torrent with 100% content.

~Leechers- There are two types of leechers either Active Leecher or a Partial Seeder they both are shown as Leechers.

~Active Leechers are those which are downloading the file and haven't completed it yet and those leechers who are not idle.. they are the actual leechers.

~Partial Seeders Are The Fake Leechers.. They Have downloaded only like 3-4 rars of a scene release and now have set to skip all other files and to seed the files which they already have to get some upload but as they still don't have 100% file they can't be shown as a Seeder. These Leechers are the reason for making torrents Ratio Killers .. as one thinks that there are so many leechers on this torrent but in truth there are no leechers there on the torrent they are all partial seeders seeding only a movie from a movie pack or only a rar from a Scene Release.

so we conclude here.. that if you need to get upload speed you need to get a torrent which has Active Leechers and not partial seeders .. so you should not look for the torrent with most leechers but rather for a popular torrent which has been released in last hour or so as that torrent may still have some Active Leechers. Look for those torrents where there is only 1 seeder and tons of leechers which has been added in last hour and is popular i bet you are gonna get a good ratio boost on that kinda torrent ..

Most of the old torrents you see with leechers are 99% Partial Seeders who are seeding some of the data of the torrent and you are the only active leecher on the torrent giving them a ratio boost so to settle yourself on a tracker you need to be very selective among what you choose to download to get an ratio above one :)

Hope this Helps you getting the concept of Torrenting with Private Trackers.
    Regards

If you want to improve your ratio just take what everyone is looking for like:new movies and games, big packs and serials.

I had the same problem with you when i tried to seed from my poor Internet connection at home. I tried to download the newest torrents with the hope to seed them easily but in vain.

After reading threads in these forums i discovered the magic word "SeedBox". In private trackers there are many users with seedboxes and as i can understand because of their speeds they get the best positions in swarm for seeding.

Almost all the torrent clients are programmed to choose the fastest seeders from the swarm to leech from. So if you don't have an Internet connection with very fast upload speed you will almost always get smashed by seeders who are using seedboxes.

Yes, very interesting. I'm guessing that eventually if you want to do the private vs. public tracker thing that the seedbox is the way to go.

I have joined a few public trackers and just let the account go because I couldn't find the content that I wanted and/or I couldn't get anything to seed. It's real great to download a show in 10 to 15 minutes but when it takes longer than 2 weeks to never to seed back to greater than 1 than I'm beginning to think that public trackers for these types of files are better.

Downloading something that you don't want just to seed back is pretty silly and if that is necessary then I'm sorry but why bother?

By downloading a file you're helping the swarm. You're also contributing to another's upload. By seeding a file you're helping someone else get the file. And if you pick the right torrent, regardless if you want it or not, it can benefit your upload. P2P is sharing, this is why you should bother.

    Ever heard of freeleech?
