Thanks everyone. It's good to have it confirmed that it's generally something that you have to be attempting to do, and to have the explanations on cross-seeding and DHT.

I definitely hadn't thought of that, so that is a good reminder. In general I turn auto-update off for everything because I like to be sure I know what is changing on my computer. With my seedbox, though, I'm not sure I'll have that control so I will make that mental note - not that I get the impression that rtorrent updates much. :)

you dont need to use a ratio cheating to improove your upload and ratio..
