Default Best Ways to Earn Reputation (rep)

well, i've been a member for a few days now and have been browsing around the site. I feel like it is kind of hard to get any rep at all to be allowed to look at stuff that requires rep. After looking around I found a few ways to gain rep, including the following:

    1. giving invites
    2. purchasing a seedbox and donating it
    3. downloading jenna's application in the sticky found in the general discussion forum (I'm paranoid that it is a keylogger of some sort)
    4. idling mIRC for a week and then posting that you did so in the sticky found in the general discussion forum. Of course, to get any rep off this you must already have 15 rep points.

all in all, i'm kinda poor so I won't be giving away seedbox's. and if I have to gain all my rep from invites, I feel like it will take me over a year as I'm fairly new to private trackers and don't have any invites to give yet. I just joined IPT, but with that I can only get 1 invite per month as soon as I upload like 50 gigs. If I give away 1 invite every month for a year, I'm still 8 points short from accessing almost everything that requires rep.

If anyone knows of any other ways to earn rep, or can give steps toward getting rep in a timely manner, please let me know.

    -thanks

Just be helpful. Can't get any simpler than that. Check the help forums and see if there's any issue you might be able to assist with. You can also post BitTorrent news or create new tutorials that might help the community.

In the end, it's the quality of your posts that matter, not the quantity.

    Note:

It is important to distinguish between iGiver and Rep. iGiver is only given when you give an invite, bonus, Seedbox, of fulfill someone's request.

Rep on the other hand is given to those who make posts that are helpful to others. This is done via the button or the add rep button .

Read the Torrent-Invites FAQ is you need more information about iGiver and Rep points.

Agreed here with Epxion, however if you go the route of news and tutorials be sure to source your material. Plagiarism is not tolerated.

But all in all spend time in the help section and if you are able to help then do so. Every user here is thankful for any help they receive when they need it. Also look around in the seed box giveaways, if you can get a seed box even for a brief period of time it can boost your stats on any tracker to help you gain the invites needed to pass out here.

Another thing is bonus points for trackers. The bonus section rules are placed in there and so long as you follow them you will have no problems, of course this is limited to certain trackers as not every one allows transfer of bonus points.

All in all like Epxion pointed out it's the quality and not the quantity that matters.

hi,PrimevaL. when i joined t-i 6 months ago, i just like you ,only have PTM IPT and few trackers .So you need to be patient, take good care every invite you take from here and advance your user class to receive invites. then start giving these invites back to this community. dont want to boost your reps in a few days, you need to be active , reply threads, help somebody and let people know you. Members would like to thank someone he knows.
Trust me, this a great community ,there is many chances , you will find your way to be a good member here.

Like Riverside says, members (who actually know how to properly use the "thank" button) will thank you if your post really contributes positively to T-I and is somehow informative and/or useful. As some of the seasoned members start to recognize your username and the quality of your posts I guarantee your rep will increase.

My advice would be to not spam the forums for the sake of increasing your post count but instead put an honest effort into your posts. As I read the forums there are a few members here that constantly annoy the hell out of me with their useless posts. Obviously spam is usually a, "thank you, good info" kind of reply. Though some try to hide their spam in posts like, "thanks, I'll try that. I usually use VLC player for all my multi-media needs. Good info". Avoid littering the forums with this crap because members will remember you and your trash posts.

Read the rules of T-I and the rules for subforums like the chopping block and others. Report forum rule breakers & ratio cheaters/collectors/dupe account holders/requests, it's kind of like mini-modding. Screen the Giveaways as if they were your own and PM the inviter of suspicious applicants. Many of these guys have very high rep power and will rep you copiously.

The first thing I would do is find an avatar. It's always easier to associate a name to a face. Likewise, it's simpler to associate a username to a picture. Members are offering suggestions and most of them leads to "making yourself known" to the community. It's not always true, but I've noticed users who don't make the time to link their username to an avatar is only here for invitations and nothing more.

Epxion made a really good post - don't confuse iGivers and reputation. Earning rep by being active in the IRC and receiving +rep from JustJenna (or any renowned member, for that matter) will take you beyond the required reputation to reach the trusted section.

I wouldn't be too concerned about the iGivers just yet. You've stated you're not a member on too many trackers so it's pointless to even consider applying for a seedbox. First, I would try to boost my reputation by posting some informative, helpful posts. This will easily earn you a fair amount of +rep from our trigger-happy reppers. Joining the IRC channel and socializing with members there will also help if you simply want to make yourself known.

Once you've reach Progress 55%, it's also a good idea to help out in the Introduction section. I know this is really time-consuming, but helping out here will get you noticed by all the intro mods and JustJenna as well. Remember, these are the members who vouched for you to become a T-I member. It's a good idea to give something back. Being active in the intro section may also earn you a decent amount of rep.

Now with a fair amount of rep under your belt, it's simpler than ever to become a final candidate in whatever tracker you're applying for.

Follow Enigma78's suggestion about the bonuses. It's much easier to give out bonuses than it is tracker invitations. Check out the Bonus Section and see which are the most popular tracker bonuses. Apply for those trackers and start seeding. If you really wanted to, go ahead and apply for a seedbox in the Free Seedbox section. Since you're now a higher-repped member, you'll have an easier time winning a seedbox.

This community is entirely based on trust. Make yourself known - be active, be helpful - and good things will come to you. I'm not saying it's going to be a quick or an easy task, but it's probably the best method if you're struggling in the capital department.
