    Default tracker names censored out

    hi!

i noticed in the requests forum, some trackers have their names censored out (example: E****)

is this automatic? or is it done by the poster on purpose? if on purpose, how do you know if/when you're supposed to do that? assuming the poster is not a member of the tracker they are requesting, how would they know the rules involving said post?

As PaNeKoTa said, its not automatic. When someone makes a request that means he has done a bit of research on the tracker he wants to join and hence knows that the name should be censored.
A long time ago a creature born of dust brought light to the darkest corner of the universe. Over centuries he became a beacon of hope and a force for good. No evil could touch him; no darkness could sway him off his path. He helped those in need and guided them to fulfill their destiny. And, someday in the distant future when he is no longer need he will once again become dust, but until that day he is The Exalted.

I think it may be automatic, as vBulletin does have the option of auto-censoring of some selected words.

i could tell you the answer, it is not automatic. you need to cencor the tracker name, if it does not want its name to be revealed in public.

    I agree with this Statement.
Some trackers don't want their names to be revealed in Public.
And the members using ****** Know exactly which trackers don't want their names to be revealed Publicly. So they use *****.

The only one I know that's automatic is S T N. I don't know why it would be, but it is. In any case, people know exactly what's being referred to when trackers are censored. If you're looking for said trackers, you'll eventually figure out what they stand for as well. For the most part, I think it's a ridiculous concept to censor out any tracker. People know what FTN, CN, PTN, EXIGO is. The only thing that shouldn't be mentioned are the URLs, but that's easy enough to figure out with google or some common-sense guessing.

In any case, seems like you got your answer so this thread is now closed.
