Default streaming mkv to ps3 error

I am streaming blu-ray from my computer to my ps3. But it keeps buffering after about half an hour of streaming. I stopped everything that uses bandwidth and still getting issues. I have posted an image of my settings if that helps any. I tried going to ps3 forums, but im tired of reading nothing but "OMG, this is happening to me too, someone HELP!!!" So if anyone has any experience in streaming blu-ray mkv files to the ps3, id be greatful!
    thanks in advance.

Are you hooked up wireless? If so, DLNA issues with PS3, no way to fix, mine did the same thing. I am told if you hook it up wired, no issues. I was also advised that the older firmware supports mkv playback on the PS3, not sure which version though.

yea i am hooked up wireless but i got the same problems when im wired as well. I will try an older firmware version and see if that may work. However ive never flashed a ps3 before, so i think i will still play around with settings to see i can come up with a solution. Thanks for the info

    UPDATE:

So i found this solution online not much of a solution:

    -

I have seen this question asked a number of times in many forums so I thought it would create a guide for it. There are a number of ways to do this, namely:

    > Streaming - On the Fly Transcoding
    > Convert to MP4
    > Convert to m2ts/blu ray format

This guide will focus on the third option as it is the one I use the most. I like the streaming option but for people wanting to play 1080p videos at top quality you need a top quality CPU (quad-core really) and a good network setup, for instance Wi-Fi just doesnt cut it and wiring isn't an option for many people. The convert to mp4 is a good option for people with Xbox360 as they can play this format, however this is time consuming (unless you have an encoding powerhouse).

There are plenty guides about for the first 2 options, so I wont include links. Now back to the point of this tutorial. Again we have a number of options:

    > MKV2VOB - see this guide AfterDawn.com: Guides: How to convert MKV files to Sony PlayStation 3 (PS3) using mkv2vob
    > multiAVCHD - see this tutorial ::: multiAVCHD tutorial :::
    > tsMuxer

I have chosen tsMuxer as I think it is the easiest and quicker to explain and it is the one I use the most (multiavchd uses tsMuxer as well)

You can download tsMuxer here SmartLabs tsMuxeR

Now lets get down to business, this is what tsMuxer looks like:

To make your file you just follow these simple steps:

    1. Add file (must be mkv)
    2. Tick whatever tracks you want to include (I often remove commentary tracks and extra subtitles if I don't need them)
    3. Check the profile level as highlighted - this should be 4.1 or lower, if it is already 4.1 as in the picture just leave as is
    4. Click the AVCHD disk radio button (as highlighted)
    5. Set the desired Target Destination

If you are going to burn this to disc this is all you need to do, just click start muxing and you're away (it usually doesn't take very long about 30mins for a 1080p file at most on my laptop- Core2Duo)

If you want to store this on a FAT32 USB drive to play on PS3 you need to do one more step. As you probably know the max file size on FAT32 is 4gb, so we need to set the files to be split every 4gb.

You just need to click the Split/Cut tab at the top and you will be presented with the following screen:

Just make sure that the file is set to split every 4gb as in the picture then your done. Click start muxing.

When you this is finished go to the target folder and you should have something like this:

The BDMV and Certificate folders are what you want to burn to disc (or drag to USB HDD)
I suggest using ImgBurn The Official ImgBurn Website as it automatically detects that it is a blu-ray when you drag these folders in, and adjusts the settings automatically.

The completed disc should play on the vast majority of recent blu-ray players I have tested it on a few different makes and they all seem to work fine. And it obviously works on PS3

I must give credit to BitBurners.com from where some of this material originates.

Hmmm, my best guess is that maybe your hardware isn't strong enough to handle the on-the-fly "re-encode." Afterall, MKV is a format that the PS3 doesn't read, and you're computer has to convert that data into a format that it can read. I used to stream from media from my laptop to my PS3 using TVersity and it would just have problems keeping up a constant stream even if I had everything that used bandwidth turned off.

I've long said goodbye to those problems ever since I bought my 2 terabyte hard drive which I connect directly to the PS3. Super convenient, and handles much faster when you seek through the media. And whatever media I happen to acquire which is MKV, I use a program called MKV2VOB to remux the media. A 4 gig file is done in a minute!

best way is to convert your .mkv to .mp4 file but using the .h246 passthrough in quicktime so you dont lose picture quality. you can then transfer it via flash drive and you dont have to worry about streaming then. if you like i can find the tutorial i followed. ive been used this method for the past 2 years to play hd movies on my ps3.

I can't find the tutorial, but I'd be happy to write on up and post it in the tutorial section. I've messaged a mod to see if it would be OK, seeing as it's not directly connected to trackers/invites etc.
