When you delete something that way, you're bypassing the recycle bin, so, rather than go through the lengthy process or trying to remove the information, it just removes the partition information from it. This means that all the information is still there, but, nothing is saying where it should be located as far as in your file system.
Believe it or not, Ctrl+Z sometimes can fix this, but, only right after it, and I'm willing to bet it's too late for you.
Here's something important though. That information is going to be some of the first stuff to be rewritten. So, everything you're downloading is permanently erasing your old files. So, stop any downloading, browsing, etc, that might be creating new files on your PC.
I'm not sure about ehao's solution, but, I generally don't trust programs with "Pro" in the name.
I'm not sure if you've ever heard of ccleaner, but, I really like their company, and they make a
free,
excellent file recovery tool called
Recuva. It's a stupid name, but, a good program. I'd recommend trying it out if you think it could help. If the thing ehao linked to looked better, try that. But do something as soon as possible!
Another excellent tool I've used in the past was ZAR, but, I can't remember what it stands for, and it took a long time. It's more for corrupted files, but, I imagine it could find anything that is still intact.
Anyhow, good luck, and let me know how it goes! I'll try to keep checking this thread in case you need more help.
