Thread: Seedbox and public tracker.

So since my ISP has stopped supporting p2p I can't download anything of torrents with a bigger speed of 30kb/s. But if I get something straight of a server I get 700kb/s, so i decided to buy a seedbox. Most of the stuff i get is at public trackers, because I can't find a tracker where I could download series seasons in one torrent(i haven't actually looked for it)
1)Can I use public tracker with seedboxes?
2)Any suggestions where should I buy my first one? There are so many to chose between - sBoxes, seedmonster, super-seed, etc.
I cant really choose between there because all the reviews are the same.



EDIT: I just noticed that if I download of a private tracker my speed in torrents goes to my max about 700kb/s

Try getting into a tracker like BTN. It's ratio-less, and has season packs. Plenty of them.

Some seedboxes don't allow to put public trackers. If you are trying to get a seedbox try xirvik. Its ratings are good and this was my first seedbox too. Meanwhile try to get in to Bytesized Hosting. They open their sign ups sometimes. Their seedboxes are cheap. Affordable for anyone.

Then try avoiding public trackers as much as possible. You will be easily monitored by your ISP.

First of all i think this is in the wrong section. This should have been in the Seedbox Discussion thread.

As i see you DO need public trackers. As for what seedbox provider to choose, it depends.
Some seedbox providers like Xirvik, PulsedMedia, Customseedbox and GGSHQ let you use public trackers. If you are into Public trackers, avoid Bytesized-Hosting because they DON'T allow public trackers as well as trackers with open signup even if they private and that's the main reason i left them some time back !! Also FeralHosting to name a few, don't let you use public trackers.

If i were you, i would choose a reputable seedbox provider like Xirvik, Pulsed, GGSHQ or Customseedbox as they allow public trackers. Next, as your isp Blocks public trackers, i would advise you to choose a seedbox provider that provides Https(SSL) on the rutorrent/any client login as well as ssl on the web access page. With this encrypted downloads will be possible. I am sure that Xirvik, GGSHQ and Customseedbox provide these but i can't confirm for Pulsedmedia.

I don't really know how to get in there. In google it said that I need to go in mIRC, but in there it says invites/registrations are closed. Maybe you could help me somehow?

I've asked them is it allowed to use public trackers, waiting for answer.

Indeed, we do not currently offer HTTPS for seedboxes, as we want to directly goto a premium wildcard certificate, which tends to costs quite a bit (unless you use one of the cheapest providers). But it's in the plans as well :)

However, SFTP / SCP is just as secure for file transfers as HTTPS.

And yes we allow public trackers.

Often you don't know that you are being shaped or throttled, because they allow you to d/l at whatever speed from around 10pm - 7am then they put the brakes on. When confronted with the evidence you will think its because there are more users because it is daytime so speeds are slow. you must be a very rich man to be able to switch isp's at will, with the minimum 18 month contracts.
